Fish Traps

missycola @ 11:27 pm Kategorie: Fisherwoman & Pix

Hey to all fishing fans (like me…since last summer)!

My father is retired from work and there is no better hobby for him than fishing and motor/sail boating =)
Today (more tonight) we went out together, he asked me if I can help, to check his fish traps and set them new. First I thought, ok well, I don’t have much time and I it almost a little bit too late because it will be dark soon (was around 8 pm) and I freeze so easily (people who know me know that) and on a boat it is always cold *brr* ;)
BUT: I didn’t regret it at all! It was fun and the weather was nice; we enjoyed the beautiful sunset and I learned how to deal with fish traps and how to steer a really shitty old outboard motor.

To drive backwards I had to turn the whole thing 360° round and change the handle to my side. Our little trip was beautiful though.
First pic shows the jetty, the home of my dad’s small boat and then himself driving:

Looks beautiful, huh? Eckernförde is a very nice little town (I grew up here) but I was happier to live in Kiel (where my university is and my friends are). But if we have here and then some of these fishing events I won’t complain :)
Here some more impressions:

Yes, unfortunately we only cought one cod (German: Dorsch) :( But better than nothing :)

My dad gut the fish and then we put the fish traps back in the water - here (can you see the flag?):

My dad has several fish traps tied together (I think six). On each end is a kind of anchor (heavy stone, on it a stick with the flag…and of course a small buoy).
Then we drove back to the jetty and I enjoyed the beautiful environment for the short drive of a few minutes. As you can see it is autumn; the trees started to become colorful.

The boat is fixed (I learned how to make the right knots to tie the ropes around the landing stage) and we leave with the engine (has to be taken home every time because it can’t be locked; don’t ask me why) and the fish.
I don’t want to withhold the beautiful sunset scenery from you, so here the last pics (the first is from another day of going out with the boat):

So that’s it for today…I am tired now from all the fresh air :)
When I came home i found this on my rubber boots:

Oh cute…are these soup noodles?? *gg* where is my pan…*jokingly*

Bye for now from your delighted fishing girl.
