Yin & Yang

Yin & Yang, that fits to my day :( and :)

Yin:
I have stress with a company that I worked for in October. They don’t want to give me my money :( I definitely need a expenses insurance (Rechtsschutzversicherung).
Must write them a letter the next days…I don’t accept their behavior. Honestly I am pissed! They owe me about 70 Euro. Do somebody know a serious website where I can look and check if the company is maybe broke? It is a German company sitting in Germany. It seems that that what they did is maybe a method how to get people to work without paying them. My rule for the next time: Every single agreement on paper – written – and signed! And if somebody is too nice, no exception…no written paper with signature(s), no work.

Yang:
I am good with selling my stuff at the moment. Yeah!! I sold my boots today on ebay for 95Euro (plus mail minus eBay fees) and a book about VBA programming with Excel (boring computer stuff)…for 20 Euro. Is that good or is that very super sweet!!!!?

Yahoooooooooooo! I love Christmas! :) Too bad that I don’t have time to put up more on eBay…I would get rid of all my stuff. And I have a lot of things that I bought and never used, like the book or the shoes, that didn’t fit me but the shop didn’t want to take them back (and they said that I can try them at home and bring them back…grrr).
I bought them a few years ago and now these shoes are rare, because they don’t produce the special style any more…my luck :) The price that I get is almost the price that I payed a few years ago (if I subtract the money that eBay get from me)…the shoes were expensive, also before the Euro…but top quality and I liked them a lot…but a few years ago…not my style any more ;)
I am so happy that I sold them this year, before Christmas, before I leave Germany to spend the money then probably in Maine :)
Better than having them lying useless in a corner…and carry them from flat to flat…

Hmmm, now I feel much better.
Good and bad things always happen together…at least with me in the last time.
Yin & Yang.

3-2-1-whoosh!

I’m so happy!! I just must write this down here :)

Becaaauuuussssse:

My fastest eBay sale E-V-E-R was today:

Ends: 25.11.05 23:03:23 MEZ (= 11:02:23 pm)
Start: 25.11.05 19:45:00 MEZ (= 07:45:00 pm)

I set a lower start prize and a “buy it now” (double as high) prize.

It worked.
Yeah…hurray…yippee…. yahooooooo!!!!!!!! *jump-jump*

Now you probably want to know what I sold, huh? :p

I can only say…rare things are always popular and good to sell :)
Or maybe I met a collector, you never know….

Brrr…

Today we got the first snow and I think we definitely have WINTER now!
Yeah, it is freezing cold out.

Well, today only some topical questions which I got from here with my answers below:

BBRRR… Did someone say winter?

1. Do you like the colder weather, or are you into the hotter weather?
Definitely warm weather! Actually I don’t have a problem with very hot weather. Australia didn’t kill me :)

2. What is your favorite thing about winter?
The beautiful snowy landscape outside if there is snow (we often only have a little bit of snow where I live).

3. Do you have a favorite comfy, cozy lounging around outfit?
Layers, layers and more layers. I’m freezing always…I love my J.W. fleece pullovers.

4. What’s your favorite warm drink when it is just too cold out there?
“Pharisaer”! (German drink: coffee with rum) Very popular in Northern Germany where it is very very very….cold! *brrr* And of course also hot chocolate…sometimes with amaretto…or baileys…yumyum.

Funeral Cake

funeral cakeIt seems that I’m doing nothing else than bake *g*

Honestly, I’m totally overloaded with my thesis paper, but baking a cake and eating it after is the nicest break for me at the moment.

The cakes name is Crumble Cake (Streuselkuchen) and unfortunately I made a botch-up of it (I messed it up a little bit). The yeast dough could be better…
But anyway…you may wonder about the name “funeral cake”?
It has its name because this is the cake served when families invite for coffee and cake after a funeral. That’s it.
Sad cake….sniffle….but damn yummy!!
And it reminds me of my grand-grandmother (RIP); she made it very often and I wanted to have the same smell in my nose again :)
And because I’m living in her house now, which reminds me of her funeral cake smell, I continue her tradition :)
I also get prepared for Maine in case I must convince my boyfriends’ family with good German cakes…
Nothing easier than that… *trumpeting* put on pinny and go!

European Language?

Official Language of European Union

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan that would become known as “Euro-English”.

In the first year, “s” will replace the soft “c”. Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy.

The hard “c” will be dropped in favour of “k”. This should klear up konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome “ph” will be replaced with “f”. This will make words like fotograf 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, ! publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.

Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling.

Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent “e” in the languag is disgrasful and it should go away.

By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing “th” with “z” and “w” with “v”.

During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary “o” kan be dropd from vords kontaining “ou” and af ter ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensibl riten styl.

Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi tu understand ech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru.

Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forst plas.

If zis mad you smil, pleas pas on to oza pepl.

:):):):):):)
Thanks to Nathan-Der-Weise who send it to me!
And thanks for the headache *ouch* ;-)

I have to admit…

apple pie…that I love Apple Pie very much *bigsmile*
I made this yummy one today.
It is probably my last (self made) apple pie this year ;-)
No more apples from our garden…finally.
This is almost the same apple pie that I did earlier, but the recipe is a bit different. This time no marzipan and no grated almonds in the dough. Some other small changes in the recipe as well, but still a very very very very delicious pie! :)

Grünkohl

G’day!
We had Gruenkohl (for lunch) again and I had my camera with me, so I can upload a photo of it now :) The meal was not complete though, the gammon steak (or ‘lightly smoked loin of pork’ says my dictionary) was missing, but the what we call ‘pinkel’ sausage (spicy smoked fatty pork sausage) and the belly of pork meat are on the plate.
See our famous German (winter) meal here:
gruenkohl
Is there any word for “Grünkohl” in English?

(curly) kale ?

Guestbook & Counter

I forgot to mention that I have a new (graphic) guestbook.
I appreciate it if you leave me a (drawn) message :)
It is just for fun and I wanted to test it.
I’ll definitely love it more if you comment on my blog posts, but anyway…
follow my link list on the right side and you’ll find a link to my new guestbook.
Hehe, the only reason for this guestbook is…to be honest…to test your creativity :p
And I have a new counter with statistics about the countries of my visitors.
If you go with your mouse over the flags, you’ll see the country maps *nice*
// Edit: My trial period will end end of this month, by then I have to decide if I want to spend 7,70 Euro(=9$)/year for it? Worth it? Hmm, don’t know. Nice tool, but do I really need it? ;-) No, of course not, like this blog as well *g* but it’s a nice counter, what do you think?
What you you think about both? Like it? Too overloaded, too silly? Just great?
