White (Bloody) Sunday
missycola @ 11:35 pm Kategorie: Fisherwoman & PixEaster finished today with the catholic holiday called “White Sunday”. I didn’t know this before I watched a TV show for children this morning, where it was explained, hehe. White Sunday is the day where people mostly have their the communion.
I hope you enjoyed Easter. Last week just went by very fast. I wanted to write a post here earlier, but always something came in-between. I worked every day together with my dad, renovating the new house. I had badly muscle ache, and my upper back hurt badly (massage for Cola not before May 30th..too sad). I wasn’t really used to such hard body work. No wonder, because I worked a lot in front of my computer the last months, sitting, not often moving. What a nice change of use of my body =) At least I do some kind of workout and am building muscles…ha, strong powerful Cola
Today is ‘White Sunday’. Instead of white it was very bloody for me. Why? My dad’s friend brought him some of his fresh cought herrings and cods today. Very nice! We all waited for the herring season to come and now our bay seems to be full of herrings, great! Here a pic of the fish before:

and after we cleaned and gut the fish:
.
Yes, we gut the fish, which means that it was my first time to get in bloody and slimy contact with Mr. Herring and Mr. Cod (oh, there were a lot of females as well). I spare you with detailed (bloody) photos here, but of course did I picture everything =)
I thought that it was time that I need to learn and do this, because I like eating fish and if you eat animals you should also be able to prepare them…err yeah, or whatever, I did it and my friends know that I don’t even like to touch raw meet or slimy fish.
It wasn’t as bad as I expected it. I cut off the head, cut into the a**h*** (yes, that were the directions given by my dad) and cut the body til the head, gut the entrails, remove the fish scales, and wash out the whole fish. A little bit sadistic Cola is. Lol. Just kidding.
In the end, we fried the herring. It looked like this (called ‘Brathering’ or fried herring):

Then we pickled the herring, put it in two big bowls where it needs to stay for about 6 days. The cod came into my freezer.
YEEEHHAA the fish season started !!!
Ok, that was my bloody sunday, how was yours?
