Hi out there,
summer is almost over and I thought the greenish summer wallpaper (blog background) needs to be changed. I feel like dark red at the moment; warm and chocolate-like.
Food is always a good topic, because I made another apple pie a few days ago, for my best friend’s birthday. No time to post the recipe here, but I’ll write it down here, if you’re interested. Here is the pie:

The next day my dad came with a few cods and an eel pout (aalmutter) that he had in his fish traps. He cleaned and fried them, I cooked some potatoes and made a carrot salad, ready was our dinner. The fried fish looked like this:

I think I already adopted an American habit: pour vinegar over (almost) everything. Nathan told me that they pour vinegar over French fries (ugh) and vegetables (I forgot which). I now found myself poring vinegar over the carrot salad and I really liked the taste! I never had the idea before…only used lemon on carot salad. My dad ate the salad as if he really liked it, too. Almost finished he asked me if there is lemon in the salad. I said, no, vinegar and he immediately put the dish away and said it is too much for him; too sour. Ooops!

Yesterday I went to my best friend’s birthday party. I was amazed how perfect everything was organised. I said to her: “hey it looks like your second marriage”. You must know that my friend is perfect in organizing parties, including a great decoration. This time the party was outside in the carport, which was added a long party tent (with space for at least 50 people). Something that went past me is the karaoke game called “SingStar”. My friend and her boyfriend had 4 DVD’s with songs and a play station that they wanted to connect with a TV (for picture output) and stereo (for the audio output). Good that they invited the multimedia tech spezi girl…me :) Well, they didn’t know how to get it started and it was on me, if the “party attraction” runs or not. We carried the TV, the stereo, the play station and everything else needed outside in the carport. A few cables in here and there, an adapter for the TV and it worked. Easy (fortunately *g*).
The difference to normal karaoke is that the original band sings in the background (with showing the original video) and on top of the screen you have visual tone level bars so that you better know how how the melody goes. In the end the program spits out a rating how you sang.
The “SingStar” was running the whole night…sigh.
I was at home at 3.30 am. Before I went to bed I called Nathan (for him it was almost 10 pm). We talked for a little while…til my feet and my butt became warm (it was freezing cold at the party in the tent). Slept only six hours.
Now it’s already late again (1.27 am), time for another phone-date of N. and me. Only 1ct/minute to the States at the moment. Pre-dial 01024, 010058 or 01078 (wink at Maren).
