Vielleicht wisst ihr es auch alle schon, aber ich war doch ganz schon platt, als ich diese Seite entdeckt habe und das alles gelesen habe. Gruselig… 
ICQ war damals, in meinen ersten Internetbegehungen 2000, das erste Chatprogramm, mit dem ich in Kontakt kam. Seit 2004 nutze ich aber lieber Skype, und seit 2005 lieber Gizmo.

Es gibt wohl nur die Möglichkeit, den chat über das ICQ Protokoll zu verschlüsseln, oder ICQ lieber nicht mehr zu nutzen. Von MSN habe ich noch nie wirklich etwas gehalten, und werde meinem Instinkt nun folgen und es auch nicht wieder in Betrieb nehmen. Obwohl ich zugeben muss, dass die Bedingungen bei MSN nicht so krass sind:

Der letzte Satz macht mich aber doch stutzig, daher lass ich lieber die Finger davon.
Ich bin eh seit Monaten chat-frei, wenn man das so sagen kann. Außer ab und an mal ein Gespräch oder ein kurzer chat über Gizmo oder wenn es denn sein muss auch über Skype (obwohl ich Gizmo denn Vorrang gebe), bin ich entweder über mein Blog oder altmodisch über meine Email erreichbar.
Die Zeiten des überall online erreichbar seins sind für mich schon lange vorbei. Ich höre auch immer wieder Stimmen aus dem Offline, dass es doch schön ist, wenn man ab und an die Stimme des anderen hört und das man von diesen Chatprogrammen nichts halte, was ganz klar für’s Telefon als “hat jeder” Variante oder halt Gizmo als “Online Telefon und chat in einem” Variante, plädiert.
Schaut euch mal Gizmo an, die Sprachqualität ist wirklich super (gerade bei langsamen Internetverbindungen!) und es belastet euer System nicht so doll, wie Skype, das auf peer2peer basiert, denn Gizmo basiert es auf dem SIP Protokoll und ihr könnt auch von offline Telefonen angerufen werden, egal wo ihr euch mit euren Computer und Gizmo befindet (kostet 3$=2.2 Euro pro Monat, bei Skype 5 Euro/Monat bei 3 Monaten Laufzeit). Skype will anscheinend das SIP nicht und geht in eine andere Richtung.
Ein kostenloser Anrufbeantworter ist bei Gizmo mit dabei (nicht wie bei Skype, wo man dafür zahlen soll). Und natürlich kann man mit Gizmo auch einfach nur chatten. 
Ãœberzeugt?
Ich bin es schon lange. Wenn ihr mal über Gizmo mit mir quatschen wollt, sucht nach “MissyCola”. Wenn ich nicht online bin, quatscht mir auf den AB. Die Nachricht wird man dann per Email zugesandt. Es ist wirklich lustig, so eine Sprachnachricht zu erhalten. Macht Spaß! Freiwillige bitte vor.

See the quotes above. Maybe you know the bad policies of ICQ and MSN already, but for me it was a little shock, how expecially ICQ changed since they were bought by AOL.
I used ICQ quite a lot during my studies, but since 2004 I came to Skype, which was very useful while I was in Australia, because I could call my family for cheaper prizes than with regular calling cards. In 2005 I discovered Gizmo and loved it even more than Skype, because the voice quality is even better, especially when you are on a bad Internet connection (e.g. modem), and you have a free voicemail, which is fun to use, and of cource you also only chat with it. Gizmo is better for your system as well, because it is not, like Skype, based on p2p, were you share the network traffic, which might slow down your computer in times of high traffic. Gizmo is based on the Session Initiation Protocol or short the SIP.
However, if you want to try out Gizmo I would be happy if you get in contact with me. You find me in Gizmo as “MissyCola”, and then we can chat or talk, yay! If I am not online you can leave me a voicemail, which will be send to my email. It is so much fun to get a voicemail through the world wide web of the great Internet. Haha!! Volunteers first please.
