Despite that I still have summer tires on my car. Today I had one tire off anyway, so I put one winter tyre on. As if I knew that it will snow.
Why I put only one winter tyre on? I need to tell you my late afternoon car story…
The right light of my car is broken and I bought a light bulb last week. ELEVEN Euro (16$) for a tiny light bulb. Damn!
Of course I wanted to change the light bulb myself. I didn’t know that Mercedes made it that complicated to reach the light bulb. In the end I removed a lot of screws to remove fender/wing, the bumper, parts of the wheel house, the tyre of course to reach inside the wheel house to remove a little plastic cover to get through to the engine insides. Sigh…everything was tiny and narrow, I could not reach the headlights area. Then I tried to remove the whole front light. I tried…Unfortunately I could not see which screws are still tight, because the bumper did not want to get loose enough; I could not get the whole light thing out. It was stuck behind the bumper, just a few millimeters, but I could not get it over it.
After 20 minutes I grabbed my phone and called the local Mercedes dealer.
After 15 minutes I had a person on the phone.
He told me two different ways how to change the light bulb. Guys, every piece of Ikea furniture is simpler to put together than remove a f***ing light bulb of my car. Bloody A-class. Everything is so compact and unreachable! I like to drive it and I like the crash test results *g* but if you want to work on it, you almost can’t!
A few years ago I repaired the back light of my mum’s car. Toyota corolla. Easy job. No need to pay 20 Euro in a garage for this job. Even I could do it. Gender: female. Hair color: blond.
Car producer only want you to bring the car to a garage. Otherwise they don’t earn enough on you, if you can do it all yourself.
But hey…only the light bulb should not be that hard to change.
Back to the phone. I talked to this very nice person, who explained me how it works. I thought, okay, I could also try remove the cold-storage plant. (back in the garage….)
Nooo, there was no yellow lever hold with which I shall remove the whole thing to reach the headlights area. I could not even find any screws on it. Damn²!
I got a fright from my dad who came over to look what I am doing, and hit my head on a sharp end of my hood. Ouch.
My dad tried to reach the inner lights section, but could not remove the cap from the headlights either.
My hands already were freezing and my dad complained why I work on the car when it already is dark outside.
Well, he did not know that I started when it was still day light, but at 4.30 it already gets dark out. Sigh.
A few other try outs and then I gave up. I really thought that I can do it. Sad and grumpy Cola.
What I did not tell you: when I talked on the phone to that Mercedes garage person, I asked how much it would be if I bring in my car and let them change my light bulb.
He said, normally you can come over without an appointment and we quickly change your light bulb without a charge. It only takes two minutes. I said: pardon, what did you say, you do it for free? Why didn’t you say that first, before I took my car apart!?! We both laughed. I finished the call with saying that I will try to do it myself and if I fail I will visit their garage tomorrow.
I guess I will be their customer tomorrow. Grrrrr.
Because I had the right tire off anyway, I didn’t put the same one back on, but clever as I am *cough* I used my winter tire, because the roads might get slippery soon. I wanted to change my tires for the winter soon anyway, I thought. My dad thinks it is too early…he thinks it is not needed before December.
Well, a few minutes ago he called me and asked me to look out of the window. I already had my blinds down and opened them.
There is a light snow layer on the road. Whaaaa! Unbelievable. So early this year?
I know what I have to do tomorrow.
The other three summer tires off, the winter tires on,
because we already have wiiiiinter tiiiime…brrr.

Ach iwo, Reifen wechseln ist inzwischen meine Spezialität. 40 Minuten und fertig. Mit nem lächerlichen Schraubschlüssel und außerdem bin ich doch schon ein großes starkes Mädchen. 
Alles was ich selbst machen kann, muss ich doch nicht teuer bezahlen. Aber man sollte die Schrauben schon fest ziehen. :P
Ist ja nicht mein erstes Mal und bisher habe ich noch keine Reifen verloren (und dass bei meiner Fahrweise). :))
Kille hatte den Reifen nicht selber gewechselt… 
Ich habe auch immer gerne alles selber gemacht, kenn ich ja. Aber gerade bei den neueren Autos geht das ja eben nicht mehr. Und mich stundenlang mit der Lampe zu beschäftigen, dafür wäre mir meine Zeit zu schade. Die ist mir dann doch teurer :))

Ne, ganz und gar nicht. Habe eher zu wenig im Portemonaie. Konnte auch nicht ahnen, dass das so zeitintensiv ist. Simply überschätzt.
mein erstes auto war n 190ger diesel, 10jahre alt, 500.000 auf der uhr… lief wie am schnürchen und wenn was kaputt war konnte man es fast immer mit hammer und schraubenzieher reparieren. (lampe: 1min! sicherungen 2min) Und dann? dann kam die c-class kombi, alles schick, alles neu und nach dem motto: wie verstecken wir einen motor… ich war ja schon mal froh, dass man der scheibenwasser noch selber auffüllen kann! denn beim jährlichen check bei benz haben sie dafür 30 euros verlangt und da ist das mau durch die decke!!! mit viel schwung am service schalter von mercedes dresden… der gute mann meinte das die das eben machen müssen und es sein bei den 600 euros für den check mit drinne…. ich: von mir aus, aber da ihr euch getraut habt es einzeln auf der rechnung aufzuführen will ich mein geld zurück. ich brauch kein vergoldedes H2O! er: aber das ist spezialwasser! ich: das ist mir sowas von egal… bla bla… chef kam… bal bla… bis er nach meinen namen fragte… ah, die tochter von! YEP… herr müller - warum haben sie das denn nicht schon lange von der rechnung genommen? unmöglich die kundin so lange warten zu lassen!!! (meine rede! :o)) wollen sie einen cafe? nein, aber meine winterreifen liegen hinten drinne und die hätte ich gern noch drauf, bin ja schon spät dran… GROßES DOPPEL GRINS!!!!!!!!!
naja, und es bleibt zu hoffen, dass ich irgendwann mal der gute kunde den man nicht verschrecken möchte bin und nicht daddy. aber es hat ja trotzdem geholfen :o)
das mit dem wischwasser hatte ich auch mal auf der rechnung, obwohl ich nen vollen 2 liter kanister, gerade neue gekauft, im auto hatte. echt frech. kostete mich aber nur 3 euro (und nicht 30!!??).
vitamin b hilft immer, bei allem im leben.
habe ich heute gerade auch wieder gemerkt.
@thomas: bin jahrelang bus in kiel gefahren und habe es gehasst. dann lieber (s-/u-)bahn oder fahrrad oder nen fähigen mann in der nähe, der mein auto ohne große kosten selbst reparieren kann. :))
das war irgendwie weil die angeblich die schläuche und den behälter gereinigt haben - irgendsowas… aber es ist mir doch nun wirklich egal ob ich beim reinigen meiner frontscheibe ein paar hilflose bakterien töte…

Ich sach da nix zu… Wenn man Autos wie Mercedes oder BMW fährt, ist das Austauschen der Lämpchen eigentlich echt Service for free 
Wofür zahlt man schließlich sonst so viel geld - und bei Mercedes noch für nicht mal wirklich schöne Autos

Ich würde mir nicht zutrauen, die Muttern wieder so fest zuzuziehen, dass nicht doch irgendwann einer davon wieder abfällt (so wie es bei Kille auf der Autobahn mal passiert ist). FÜr DIE Sicherheit zahl ich doch lieber ein paar Euronen… Naja, ich hab ja kein Auto mehr :))
