Snail mail surprise

After almost seven weeks (!!!) the package that my dad send me end of 2006 finally arrived. Well, in two weeks I already will leave the US again. In the package was a anti-allergy (anti dust mite) mattress cover, a few coffee filters (because I could not find size 4 filters in December 2006) and a cream. It probably took so long because the package was not sent as a gift and it probably got stuck at the customs office. I could not see if someone opened it, but why the hell does it take 6 weeks and 4 days for a small package with 2kg (~4.5 lbs) weight?

Thanks dad, for your effort and your good will, but…*fg* accidentally you sent me the wrong mattress cover. =)

I know that you won’t read this, because you do not have internet at home, but maybe my dear sis (who hopefully reads this) can tell him that?
Dad, you sent me the mattress cover of my very old mattress; the one that we already threw away. I just kept the cover for whatever. I know, you could not know that. I think it is funny. However, even if it was the right cover it would not fit on our current mattress, because we change our bed from the bad uncomfortable futon mattress to a nice thick luxurious queen size mattress, that we found in the storage shed outside. This new mattress is too thick for my allergy cover anyways.
Still, when we opened the package, it was a big laugh!

Blog-Bastelstunde

Nachdem ich einen ganzen Tag zugebracht habe, mein blog von meiner alten domain auf die neue zu verfrachten, war ich froh, dass es nun auf der neuen Domain läuft und alles, wie gewünscht angezeigt wird. Nein, leider nicht alles. Einige meiner Fotos sind nun nicht mehr sehen. Das liegt daran, dass sie mit meiner externen Fotogalerie verknüpft sind und die Verlinkung noch über die alte Blogadresse läuft. Bastel bastel, das muss also noch angepasst werden. Habt Geduld, ich arbeite dran. Habe dazu ein plugin gefunden, womit man Daten in der Datenbank suchen und ersetzen kann. Da wage ich mich heute mal ran.

Das Kommentarlayout wurde verändert (nun mit Nummerierung und, wie ich finde, hübscheren Design). Ebenso habe ich die Schriftgröße des post Textes etwas größer gemacht. Ist doch um einiges besser lesbar, wenn man nicht direkt mit der Nase vorm Bildschirm sitzt (wie ich normalerweise). Ich weiß noch nicht, ob ich es so lasse. Bin halt ein Spielkind. Grins.

Falls Jemandem was auffällt, was blöd aussieht oder nicht funktioniert, bitte Bescheid sagen.

/*Hinzufügung: es ging doch einfach und schneller als erwartet. Zum einen fand ich einen hilfreichen Beitrag auf jowra.com, nämlich wie man ganz einfach via SQL Texte, Namen oder sonstiges suchen und ersetzen kann.
Dazu habe ich einfach folgendes vie SQL eingegeben: UPDATE wp_posts SET post_content = replace(post_content, 'blog.sugarbytes.de', 'planetcola.com'); Und siehe da, es wurde 72 mal geändert in nicht mal einer Sekunde. Wow.

Alle Bilder, die nicht in meiner externen Galerie liegen, sondern hier direkt im Blog verankert sind, werden z.B. unter blog.sugarbytes.de/wp-content/bilder/beispielbild.jpg gespeichert. Ich habe nun alle Bilder auf planetcola.com in den ordner planetcola.com/wp-content/bilder/… kopiert. Da in meinen sämtlichen (über 100) posts in der Verlinkung zu dem jeweiligen Bild noch der Verweis auf den Order bei blog.sugarbytes.de stand, konnte das Bild hier auf planetcola natürlich nicht angezeigt werden.
Dank dem ’suchen und ersetzen’ via SQL war es ganz einfach, nur den Domainnamen zu ersetzen. Ich mache solche Dinge lieber manuell, als das ich ein plugin laufen lasse, von dem ich nicht weiß, ob der code korrekt ist. Gut, dass manche Dinge doch viel einfach sind als erwartet.
Juchuu, somit funktionieren die Bilder auch wieder. *freu*
Die Bilderzuweisung meiner Galerie war noch viel einfacher. Grins. Ich musste einfach die Datenbank Einstellungen meines coppermine plugins neu justieren und neu abspeichern. Das hatte ich total übersehen. Geht also bildtechnisch alles wieder. Man, bin ich froh, dass das so problemlos und schnell ging.

Das oben genannte ist die Willkommensmitteilung, die man erhält, wenn man ein wordpress blog neu aufsetzt. Allerdings ist dies nicht mein erstes posting, da dieses blog bereits seit Oktober 2005 existiert und das hier der 185. post ist. Ich werde kein blog starten, ich werde mein bisheriges einfach fortführen.

Can you shutdown? Einen Tag ohne Computer?

ENGLISH:
This is a (worldwide) project and it asks if YOU are able to shutdown your computer for one day, on March 24th (Saturday).
Can you? Is it possible to have your computer a whole day next to you without starting it? Without checking your emails?
How many people start their day with switching on the computer in the morning? I guess, there are a lot…worldwide… If I now think about the positive effects for nature’s health if everyone would switch off the computer for only one day…amazing. I will join. Group “contests” like these motivate me.

On the shutdown website it says:
It is obvious that people would find life extremely difficult without computers, maybe even impossible. If they disappeared for just one day, would we be able to cope? Be a part of one of the biggest global experiments ever to take place on the internet. The idea behind the experiment is to find out how many people can go without a computer for one whole day, and what will happen if we all participate! Shutdown your computer on this day and find out! Can you survive for 24 hours without your computer?

The project reminds me of the offline-day that we used to celebrate on March 1st (Labour Day in Germany). “Our” offline day also restricts mobile phones and digital cameras. Everything digital has to shut down (be switched off) for that day. The computer shutdown will be an easy thing…I think. I will see. I need to plan something for the 24th of March. ;o)

Am 24. März wird als menschliche Gemeinschaft weltweit der Versuch gestartet, den Computer nicht anzuschalten. Der Powerknopf ist tabu. Einen ganzen Tag, 24 Stunden, ohne den Computer zu benutzen. Geht das? Na klar geht das. Entlastet die Kernkraftwerke und den Geldbeutel und schont die Umwelt. Außerdem sollten gerade die Computerabhängigen unter uns (an die eigene Nase fass) mal lernen, einen Tag ohne auszukommen. Ich kann schon ‘ohne’, aber wenn der Laptop den ganzen Tag neben mir liegt und mich anlächelt, wirds bestimmt nicht einfach. Wir werden sehen.
