My first one way flight

May 19, 2008 ~ filed under: Australia & English & Goodbye Deutschland ~ 6 comments »

I know all of you want to know when missy finally leaves Germany.
It was the question I never heard that often in my life before: “Have you booked your flight?” “When do you leave?”
And then all these confused faces that I still haven’t booked while saying that I will leave next week or so…ha ha. Yes, I am spontaneous.
Last time when I went to Australia, I booked my flight three days ahead.

This time, I booked one week ahead. Hey, that’s better isn’t it?? :))

Okay, guys, no more questioning needed, because:

Today, I BOOKED MY FLIGHT!

Just an hour ago.

What a stressful day, because prizes went up every hour, then I found two possible cheap flights, then I called my best friend for a quick information and afterwards both flights weren’t available anymore.

Too bad, I was angry with myself.

Then they have only flights with a train ride from Hamburg to Frankfurt (instead of flying), and they are more expensive as well. Nope, I don’t want these…

I call a travel agency who made me a flight offer earlier. I give them my bank details and they say I need to confirm the booking via email before they can arrange everything else. Their offer is a bit more expensive (~50 Euro), but at least without a train ride to an airport and with a good flight schedule…Kind of, because the flight departes in the middle of the afternoon and my best friend might not be able to join my departure. Hmm…I didn’t want think to much about if friends could come with me to the airport, but in the end I was thinking of it.

I am quite sad about the “wrong” flight time and look again at the two online booking sites and after a few minutes I find almost the flight that I wanted to book, it only is a different airline from Singapore to Perth. The one which I don’t want. The travel site gets my full attention again. I search and search…

Plop, there is IS. MY flight appears…again? What a weird website! I could not have overseen it before; it was not there before. It said: “booked out” to me and I showed it to a friend. I am 100% sure. Maybe the travel agency was holding it back for someone…and now it is back online again. Whatever!

Quick Cola quick…I fill out the form, no I don’t want the travel insurance, I just want this FLIGHT!!!
Submit. Done.
Calming down. A little.

I check my e-mail and yes, the booking went through, but…what is this? I ordered a paper ticket? Costs 3 Euro more? Nooo, I don’t want this…
I grab the phone and call them…the lady on the other line checked my booking if my flights offer e-ticket qualities (??). Luckily they are available as e-ticket. Good. Otherwise it would have made me nervous to wait for the snail mail to arrive with my paper ticket. I cannot even think the last time I had a paper ticket in my hands…

Now I feel bad that I need to let the travel agency know that I don’t want their flight offer anymore. I write them an email (I am too ashamed to call them).

Finally I can tell everyone:
I leave next Tuesday!

:innocent:

{6}  Funny things I get asked #1 - Planet Cola    Apr 18, 2012

[...] For a while now I’m never from wherever I live. Does this make sense? LOL Back in Australia I should have started this column “Funny things I get asked”, because I got a lot of funny questions about myself or my ‘whereabouts’, but from now on I will start writing them down, because if they make me laugh, they might make you giggle, too!
