Last days of my blog’s language decision poll (english or german)

-EN-
There doesn’t seem to happen much more with the vote for my blog’s language. Well, if anyone still hasn’t voted yet, please check the VOTE link in the right side column and give me your voice. The poll will be open until March 4th 12am (GMT+1). For now it looks like the majority wants me to write my blog in German. Hey my dear English friends crowd, are you sure sure?

-DE-

Liechtenstein PopUp

Update Pop-Up vom Morgen:

My anti virus program Avira includes the actual Liechtenstein topic in the ad/pop-up above, which I got this morning. I think it is funny.
The ad says (translated): “we cannot secure the bank secret better but your virus protection”.

I love maple syrup but what is this?

Ehm, I just opened the maple cream that was in my late Christmas package, but it doesn’t look as if it is…ehm…ok still.

And…it stinks smells very bad, like vinegar or alcohol…the smell makes me not wanting to eat it really. First I thought the white stuff could be sugar. When I opened it, the white chunk sticked to the lid and fell into the container like a slime something. But why does the content smells so bad? I know how maple syrup smells…and I love the smell…very delicious smell. Not this “cream” though. Hmm, too bad. :(

[was this fresh or, ehm, you remember the little cranberry honey? *g*]

Erkenntnisse

Werde meine also mal anbieten, bzw. inserieren.

New Rules for 2008

I just got this via email and thought it is too funny not to post it here for you. This made my morning! :D

New Rules For 2008

New Rule: Stop giving me that pop-up ad for classmates.com ! There’s a reason you don’t talk to people for 25 years. Because you do n’t particularly like them!? Besides, I already know what the captain of the football team is doing these days–mowing my lawn.

New Rule: Don’t eat anything that’s served to you out a window unless you’re a seagull. People are acting all shocked that a human finger was found in a bowl of Wendy’s chili. Hey, it cost less than a dollar. What did you expect it to contain? Trout?

New Rule: Ladies, leave your eyebrows alone. Here’s how much men care about your eyebrows: do you have two of them? Okay, we’re done.

New Rule: There’s no such thing as flavored water. There’s a whole aisle of this crap at the supermarket, water, but without that watery taste. Sorry, but flavored water is called a soft drink. You want flavored water? Pour some scotch over ice and let it melt. That’s your f lavored water.

New Rule: The more complicated the Starbucks order, the bigger the asshole. If you walk into a Starbucks and order a ‘decaf grande half-soy, half-low fat, iced vanilla, double-shot, gingerbread cappuccino, extra dry, light ice, with one sweet-n’-Low, and one NutraSweet,’ ooh, you’re a huge asshole.

New Rule: I’m not the cashier! By the time I look up from sliding my card, entering my PIN number, pressing ‘Enter,’ verifying the amount, deciding no, I don’t want cash back, and pressing ‘Enter’ again, the kid who is supposed to be ringing me up is standing there eating my Almond Joy.

New Rule: Just because your tattoo has Chinese characters in it doesn’t make you are spiritual. It’s right above the crack of your ass. And it translates to ‘beef with broccoli.’ The last time you did any thing s piritual, you were praying to God you weren’t pregnant. You’re not spiritual. You’re just high.

New Rule: Competitive eating isn’t a sport . It’s one of the seven deadly sins. ESPN recently televised the U.S. Open of Competitive Eating, because watching those athletes at the poker table was just too damned exciting. What’s next, competitive farting? Oh wait!? They’re already doing that. It’s called ‘The Howard Stern Show.’

New Rule: I don’t need a bigger mega M&Ms. If I’m extra hungry for M&Ms, I’ll go nuts and eat two.

New Rule: No more gift registries. You know, it used to be just for weddings. Now it’s for babies and new homes and graduations from rehab. Picking out the stuff you want and having other people buy it for y o u isn ‘t gift giving, it’s the white people version of looting.

New Rule: and this one is long overdue: No more bathroom attendants. After I zip up, some guy is offering me a towel and a mint like I just had sex with George Michael. I can’t even tell if he’s supposed to be there, or just some freak with a fetish. I don’t want to be on your web cam, dude. I just want to wash my hands.

New Rule: When I ask how old your toddler is, I don’t need to know in months. ’27 Months.’ ‘He’s two,’ will do just fine. He’s not a cheese. And I didn’t really care in the first place.

New Rule: If you ever hope to be a credible adult and want a job that pays better than minimum wage, then for God’s sake don’t pierce or tattoo every available piece of flesh. If so, then plan your future around saying, ‘Do you want fries with that? ‘

- – - – - – - -
Originally it is a reproduced list from this guy and actually it is a 2007 and not a 2008′s list but still going around the web…I guess it still fits very well. The “New Rules” can be found also here.

The missy’s name

I never really liked my name, although it is short: Anja.
I always wanted a more special and a more fancy name.
During my primary school time my name was a very common name for girls…we were three Anja’s in the class. I was called Anja-One. Then there was my best friend, called Anja-Two, and there also was an Anja-Three. Horrible, but my teacher at that time really liked it and had fun with the 1-2-3 names.
When I met people all around the world most of them spell and write my name Anya. Even people who know me longer still write my name with a ‘y’. Sigh. Well, my loveman mostly calls me Cola, which I really like because it sounds very cool when he says it, hehe, and when he calls me with my real name A-n-j-a it feels like something is wrong, it doesn’t sound as nice and calm and warm, when he says it, it has something demanding…you know, like when your name is Christina and everyone just calls you Chris or Tina, and if you hear your full name Christina it means you probably did something wrong.
I started my blog with the missycola name also because of the reason that my real name is too boring. I don’t know, but I am just used to be called by nicknames that are all far away from my given name. My other nicks were, for instance, sugar or schlipsi, which are both still valid, but since I am with my Colaman it needs to be a Colablog with a Colamissy. :]

I found the following name game at Jennifer’s HeisseScheisse blog (psst, I always wanted to be called Jennifer (esp. in the short form ‘Jenny’) or Jessica when I was a child…).
Well, as most of you know, I like these kind of internet quizzies and games, therefore I could not resist to see what it says for my (boring) name. Not too bad…quite true (lol). But what means “Type A personality”?

What Anja means

You are usually the best at everything … you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic “Type A” personality.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are fair, honest, and logical. You are a natural leader, and people respect you.
You never give up, and you will succeed… even if it takes you a hundred tries.
You are rational enough to see every part of a problem. You are great at giving other people advice.

What’s Your Name’s Hidden Meaning?

Sleeping room wall color examples

I found a nice site to compare wall colors. On each sheet you see three different colors: left is for the main wall, middle is the side wall (is my sloping wall a side wall?), and right is the color for accessories (like curtains, pictures, bed linen, carpet, etc.). Well, it doesn’t really make it easier for me to decide, which color I like the best for the sleeping room…you maybe? It is a smaller room with about 12 m³ and one sloping wall under which the bed (head) stands. Hmm, I might go color-idea shopping in a hardware store in Kiel tomorrow after work…unless YOU have a further tip from the options above?

[color examples by Alpina]

edit Feb 18:
it might be problematic that the colors above will look different on almost every monitor screen…i saw it at work today..but to get an idea it is good enough…so, what do you think?

Cola’s MY-Dinner

Good evening!
Nothing in the fridge but a little bit hungry for dinner?

One of the fabulous mr.natey the cook MissYou-dinner’s.
Self-made “pommes” or fries made from the ultimate German Linda potatoes, in a gracious oregano-oil-paprika-salt-n-pepper-thyme-superior-spice-mix.
Quick and easy and not oily at all because baked in the oven (fan: starting with 210, later down to 180, how long? don’t know, about 10-15 minutes). Together with fried turkey and onions and a green salad with the phenomenal missy-dressing.
Just one episode of Cola’s quick dinner cooking’s. I like it fast but good. Yum.

What else?
I painted the ceiling of the sleeping room next door today. Same style as my sleeping room…with a bar-wide border on the walls. Now the white paint is empty (after 6 ceilings and window frames) and we need to wait until Monday to buy more. For the sleeping and the study room I haven’t decided yet what color to paint the walls. I would like something very light….maybe very light terracotta, or very light green, or super light blue-lilac-grayish? The wooden door and its frame is painted glossy white, windows are white, heater is white, furniture will be pine, beech or similar wood color. Any sleeping room color experience and some tips? Schwesterherz and Natehon, you know the room; any ideas?
