Perhaps A New Blog Design

February 19, 2009 - Blog & DEUTSCH & ENGLISH - (5) COMMENTs

I am trying out a new blog design, but I am not sure if I’ll keep it. This would be the first time that I use a ready made design and not my own…hmm, am not sure…I like it somehow. How would it look on different monitor screens/resolutions?

UPDATE:

I already changed the design again. Hehe. Here is the new old one from yesterday:

My own design from the time before looked in the latest edition like this:

The new version is cleaner, more simple, no scroll, fancy sliding navigation (you decide what you want to see) and more pink. I just could not put in my quotes/proverbs yet. Don’t know how and where…I always mess up the design, so I leave it out for now.

Forget orange, think PINK. Yes, I do like pink.

Vergiss orange, nimm PINK. :)

Hmmm…this is MUCH slower for me…and orange isn’t my favorite color – but I do like the scroll design! :) I’m looking forward to seeing how this evolves – I’m sure it will be fun! ;)

Lots of love!

Oh, a slow loading blog is of course the opposite what I wanted. Orange isn’t my favourite colour either. ;) I do like the general look of the design and the sliding navigation.

Anyone else recognised slower loading than before or anything else that is annoying or to your dislike?

Can you check the page load with this new theme? It should be a bit fast than the one from yesterday, but still is slower than my own cola-theme…I guess it is the sliding (java script) that causes the loading delay. It “only” (ironic) is 20 more http requests compared to my own theme (which is of course more boring or not as fancy).
Well, anyone liking it at all?

:) Hi Ajna! This page loads much faster than the last try and the design is pretty straight-forward. I liked your original page where the most recent comments could be seen at a glance and the picture reminded me of you (the point of it, I imagine)! :) And I like pink, too!

On another note – re ants…spraying the areas where they enter the house with diluted penny royal oil seems to work, but the best thing I’ve found (thanks to Nathan, who may not remember this) is to spread uncooked rice in a ring around the house, which I do every week or two in the warmer months. It really works! :) Not sure about cockroaches…haven’t had that problem recently! The rice may work with them though, too…

:D Love, Hannah

Thanks for your design opinion, Hannah. I’m glad to hear that you liked my original design. I thought it was a bit out of date…or boring…or not fancy enough. I like this one, but I agree that it misses the one glance view to comments, polls, and these things.

Thanks also for the rice tip. As you can read in the new post, I can’t really talk to Nathan about bugs and how to avoid them them any longer. It is the forbidden topic now. :/

Does it matter what kind of rice it is? How much is needed to put down? In a closed line? Won’t the wind blow it away?
