Loading ...Problem with phone (voip) over new modem setup
I just noticed that the phone quality with my new setup as mentioned in the last posts is bad. The ringing sound is almost echoing and when someone on the other end speaks it is like I am on a bad modem dial-up connection. Arghhhh!!! Do I need to blame my new D-Link modem or did I forget an important setting in both of my DSL-modems? I am receiving a call from my best friend from Germany tonight and am ready to pull the new modem apart and go back to my old setup. I cannot even ask anyone for ideas, because my setup is pretty rare, I guess…maybe I do need to put my German modem first and the Australian modem second? But then I wonder how to receive the high speed internet, if my German modem is not receiving it, plus I also want to use the wireless of the German modem… Would be easier to draw a picture to explain what I mean. Okay, here is my setup:
Looks easy, but took me a while to setup the software of both modems to actually work with each other. However, the phone seems to not get the decent amount of bytes through the line as the sound is just shabby. Also, as I said yesterday, our internet speed is still very much the same as before the new modem came into play. I guess, that the D-Link modem is not transfering the whole speed to the Fritzbox modem. But, where to check and what to set where and why??? HELP!

Just found out that I can call out, but the person on the other end can’t hear me.

Jau, alles doof. Hab die Fritzbox resetten müssen, weil nix mehr ging. Hatte was verstellt und dann war die Box nicht mehr ansprechbar. Habe also alles wieder neu einstellen müssen und nun haben wir nur noch eine Geschwindigkeit von 600kb/s

Ich bin mir sicher, dass es nur eine Sache der korrekten Einstellung der Boxen ist, damit sie miteinander kommunizieren können. Wenn ich nur wüsste, was ich genau einstellen muss…
Kille, wie meinst Du das beim ersten Modem den Port für VOIP forwarden? Mein Aussiemodem hat nur nen ethernet port, meinst Du den? Wie geht das mit Port weiterleiten? Auf was weiterleiten? Ne IP? Habe ja automatische IP Vergabe…ach, hätt ich doch nur mehr Ahnung von dem Kram. 
Ne, geht nicht direkt um IP oder DHCP, sondern um die Ports auf denen die einzelnen Programme kommunizieren.
Wenn Du die Typenbezeichnung Deines Aussie Modems (DLINK XXX) und PORT FORWARDING mit VOIP eingibst, solltest Du evt was rausbekommen.

Ich weiss nicht, ob es das Problem loest, aber immerhin ein Ansatz.
Ich empfehle immernoch eine Fritzbox mit anstaendigem Annex in den Niederlanden zu bestellen.

ohje… das lkingt genau nach dem gleichen Problem wie wir es hatten. Wir hatten es auch probiert mit dem Original Provider Modem und der Fritzbox dahinter und hatten dann eine miese Qualität. Das liegt daran, dass die Fritzbox nunmal die beste Box für VoIP ist und die Bandbreite für VoIP optimiert.. selbst wenn man nebenbei noch einen Film Online anschaut oder saugt.
Daher hatten wir ja dann die spezielle Fritzbox aus den Niederlanden gekauft.
Was evt helfen kann, wenn Du beim ersten Modem den Port für VoIP forwarden kannst… braucht man auch häufig bei Chatten oder PeerToPeer saugen.
Sag Bescheid wenn Du noch jemanden zum testen brauchst… sitze ja auch auf Sipgate. Da Sabine mal wieder ans andere Ende der Erde fliegt.. hab ich eh Langeweile
