Preparing for our first visitors

Jul 6, 2009 ~ filed under: A-life & English ~ 4 comments »

At the moment we are rearranging our house for our first guests, Hannah and Billie (Nathan’s mum and grandma) arriving in a few days from overseas.
It was very sunny the last days and this week we have the rain back. Bummer!
Well, the weater in Maine (US) and here is pretty much the same, except that we have winter and they have summer. Preparing for our first visitors (pic)

We turned our second bedroom, which Nathan used as his study room, into our new guest room. Our first plan was that our guests sleep inour queen size bed, while we sleep on the single couch in the living room or on our sleeping couch in the second bedroom. But lucky as we are, we just got two single beds on rolls with really thick comfortable mattresses, which fit nicely into our second bedroom. Now our guests have their own private room and we can still sleep in our bed. All sorted!
Somehow we have a lucky hand when it comes to furniture..that comes into the house for free… Preparing for our first visitors (pic) Good to have a side job in a hotel. Preparing for our first visitors (pic)
We just had the half-yearly employee party and Nathan was almost voted employee of the half-year!!! Almost…only one point behind the winning person. His popularity is another reason for the generous furniture giving aways…besides that he is awesome anyway… Preparing for our first visitors (pic)

Okay, enough blog-snuggles, I am back in bread baking, having a Bavarian Rye yeast bread in the rising stage in the oven and need to keep an eye on it.

Thank you, Anja (& Nathan), for going to such lengths to make sure Billie & I will be comfortable when we’re there! We appreciate it very much. :) We’ll be headed to the airport tomorrow – and very excited about visiting you both. :D

How great to ‘hear’ about Nathan’s near-honor (employee of the halfyear) – he wouldn’t mention it himself! ;)

See you soon! Love, Hannah
