Now Working – ReCaptcha Against Comment Spam
Finally, I got the plugin WP-ReCaptcha working (there was a missing code line in my comments.php).
You can see the new tool when you’re commenting, underneath the comments field. Before your comment appears on my blog, you will need to type in two words as shown by the captcha.
I’m sorry for the little extra typing effort, but lately I got quite a few more spam comments than usual and it was getting on my nerves to always log into my blog to just deal with all these spams. The plugin shall now take care of (most of) it. I’ll see.
Also, this ReCaptcha sounds quite promising in fighting spam but also in doing something very helpful and clever: It helps digitising books and old newspapers. Read more about it.
Comment problem solved
Thanks Mau for telling me that it was not possible to comment on my blog for a few days. I installed a new Anti-Spam-Plugin (wp-recaptcha), but it didn’t work, meaning it didn’t show up underneath my comments field, but I forget to de-install it, therefore, even with the anti-spam method invisible, it didn’t allow any comments. Sorry for that!
Mau, it is the same anti-spam captcha that you use. Unfortunately it doesn’t work in my blog or I don’t know what went wrong. Too bad, because I get a lot of spam comments at the moment and was really looking forward to try out this promising help against the evil out there.

Fuer die, die es noch nicht mitbekommen haben. In Sydney wuetete ein roter Sandsturm und verursachte Chaos und spektaluaere Bilder. Die Stadt versank im roetlichen Sandnebel. Taten statt Thesen – Ich habe gewaehlt
Oops, was war denn da gestern in meiner Post? Ahh…Wahlunterlagen zur Briefwahl. Komisch, woher wissen die denn, dass…
Danke an meinen lieben Herrn Vater, der sich immer um mein Wohl (und die Zukunft Deutschlands) sorgt und vor allem rechtzeitig dran gedacht hat, dem Amt Bescheid zu geben, dass sie mir die Wahlunterlagen zur Bundestagswahl und Landtagswahl 2009 ins Land down under zu schicken.
Hat er mir gar nichts von gesagt. Schlawiner.

Somit habe ich mich gestern erstmal durch die “typisch deutschen” Formulare gewuehlt. Ich hatte fast nen Knoten im Gehirn bei dem Amtsdeutsch, aber dann gings.
Somit habe ich nun gewaehlt und werfe die Wahlpapiere heute in den Briefkasten, damit sie noch rechtzeitig bis zum 27.9.09 in Deutschland ankommen. Sollte klappen.
So schwer war die Qual der Wahl dann ja nicht, denn man weiss auf jeden Fall sofort, was man NICHT waehlt. Und dann bleibt ja nicht mehr so viel uebrig. 
Nicht waehlen ist dagegen ganz ganz schlecht. Wie der Wickert schon sagte “Wer nicht zur Wahl geht, darf nicht kritisieren.” Oder wollt ihr, dass das hier so weiter geht? Was ist da nur los in Deutschland??? 
Was sagt denn der Wahl-o-mat bei euch so? Und – beeinflusst er/es eure Wahl?
Uiuiui…was er bei mir ausspuckt, sage ich lieber nicht (oeffentlich). 
Ich sag nur, von den grossen Parteien sind CDU und SPD das Schlusslicht meines Ergebnisses.
Aber Thesen der Parteien sind ja halt auch, wie der Name sagt, Thesen und keine Taten. Viel besser waere es, wenn der Wahl-o-mat einen Taten-Reflektion-zu-Thesen-in-der-Vergangenheit-sautomat haette. DAS waere mal interessant fuer die, die nicht so hochpolitisch mittendrin und informiert sind. Thesen anschlagen ist ja pipileicht, nur sie auch bestmoeglich (was das alles heissen kann…so einiges) umsetzen, ist die Kunst, die ein Lob oder gar eine Wahlstimme einkassieren koennte.

Warum sieht mein Blog im IE 6.0 so scheisse aus?
Ach, du nutzt wirklich noch diese alte IE Version? Schaem dich.
Ja, ich weiss, deine Firma hat noch nicht umgesattelt auf die aktuelle IE Version oder verbreitet einfach aus Faulheit vor Rumfrickelung mit neuen IE Einstellungen das Geruecht, dass “Konflikte mit diversen Online-Applikationen” dann vorherrschen wuerden?
Wie waere es mit DIESEM Konflikt, dass mein Blog zerschlagen wird, wenn man die ALTE Version still weiterbenutzt?
Fein. Dann komm aber bloss nicht auf die Idee mein Blog von deiner Firma aus anzusurfen, es sei denn, du bist hart im Nehmen und Augenkraempfe machen dir nichts aus.
ICH sitze hier an einem (reinen) MAC und fuer den MAC wurde der IE nach der 5er Version nicht weiterentwickelt. Ich KANN also nicht mal mit der alten 6.0 Version mein Blog ansurfen, aber es ist nett, per E-Mail Kopien meines verzerrten Blogdesigns
zugeschickt zu bekommen. Nein, ehrlich, DANKE!
Aber solltest du waehrend der Arbeit nicht auch a-r-b-e-i-t-e-n, statt in meinem Blog zu lesen? 
Ja ja, ich weiss, Du wolltest deiner Kollegin ja nur mal schnell was zeigen oder was Nachschlagen und ausserdem war das eh in der Mittagspause.

Mom got so upset when guests came in the door and plopped their handbags down on the counter where she was cooking or setting up food. She always said that handbags are really dirty, because of where they have been.It’s something just about every woman carries with them.. While we may know what’s inside our handbags, do you have any idea what’s on the outside? Women carry handbags everywhere; from the office to public toilets to the floor of the car. Most women won’t be caught without their handbags, but did you ever stop to think about where your handbag goes during the day.
‘I drive a school bus, so my handbag has been on the floor of the bus a lot,’ says one woman. ‘On! The floor of my car, and in toilets.’
‘I put my handbag in grocery shopping carts and on the floor of the toilet,’ says another woman ‘and of course in my home which should be clean.’We decided to find out if handbags harbour a lot of bacteria. We learned how to test them at Nelson Laboratories in Salt Lake , and then we set out to test the average woman’s handbag.
Most women told us they didn’t stop to think about what was on the bottom of their handbag. Most said at home they usually set their handbags on top of kitchen tables and counters where food is prepared.
Most of the ladies we talked to told us they wouldn’t be surprised if their handbags were at least a little bit dirty.It turns out handbags are so surprisingly dirty, even the microbiologist who tested them was shocked.
Microbiologist Amy Karen of Nelson Labs says nearly all of the handbags tested were not only high in bacteria, but high in harmful kinds of bacteria. Pseudomonas can cause eye infections, staphylococcus aurous can cause serious skin infections, and salmonella and e-coli found on the handbags could make people very sick.
In one sampling, four of five handbags tested positive for salmonella, and that’s not the worst of it. ‘There is faecal contamination on the handbags’ says Amy. Leather or vinyl handbags tended to be cleaner than cloth handbags, and lifestyle seemed to play a role People with kids tended to have dirtier handbags than those without, with one exception.
The handbag of one single woman who frequented nightclubs had one of the worst contaminations of all. ‘Some type of faeces, or possibly vomit’ says Amy.
So the moral of this story is that your handbag won’t kill you, but it does have the potential to make you very sick if you keep it on places where you eat. Use hooks to hang your handbag at home and in toilets, and don’t put it on your desk, a restaurant table, or on your kitchen countertop.
Experts say you should think of your handbag the same way you would a pair of shoes. ‘If you think about putting a pair of shoes on your countertops, that’s the same thing you’re doing when you put your handbag on the countertops.’
Your handbag has gone where individuals before you have walked, sat, sneezed, coughed, spat, urinated, emptied bowels, etc!Do you really want to bring that home with you?
The microbiologists at Nelson also said cleaning a handbag will help Wash cloth handbags and use leather cleaner to clean the bottom of leather handbags.THIS IS WORTH SHARING!!! PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO YOUR GRANDMOTHERS, MOMS, DAUGHTERS, GRANDDAUGHTERS AND GIRLFRIENDS !! !!
Quite gross! I never put my handbag on the floors in toilets; I used the hook or the handle on the door, but even the handle might be not a good spot. Sometimes I balanced it on top of the toilet paper holder.
I will be more aware now. Because I am a handbag-on-the-counter-thrower. Yuck!

Kann es sein, dass man mit Anti-Spam plugins fuer WordPress mehr Spam bekommt, als ohne?
Ich habe den Selbsttest gemacht und habe ziemlich lange (seit 2006?) Akismet als Anti-Spam Plugin laufen gehabt. Dann habe ich vor einigen Monaten WP-Spam-Free ausprobiert und wurde nur so von Spam bombardiert, allerdings wurde mir nie gezeigt, was da genau geblockt wurde und ich wollte doch in der Kontrolle sein, dass es auch wirklich Spam war und nicht ein “echter Kommentar”, der da gefressen wurde.
Nach einer Weile habe ich wieder Akismet den Vorrang gegeben, war aber immer noch nicht zufrieden, weil da immer noch so viel durch kam. Mit viel meine ich bis zu 20 pro Tag, die nicht im Spamfilter landen (was bei meinem kleinen Blog viel ist, besonders im Verhaeltnis zu den Kommentaren). Im Juni hatte ich laut Akisment 1913 Spams, die geblockt wurden. Im Januar 2009 dagegen nur ganze vier. Falsche Positive gab es seit Maerz 2007 nur sechs, laut Akisment, aber woher weiss ich, dass da nicht was geblockt wurde, was eigentlich kein Spam war? Fast 11.000 Spam-Kommentare und Trackbacks hat Akismet in meinem Blog seit 03/2007 (seit der planetcola-Domain) ge”fangen”, dafuer habe ich nur 1.190 Kommentare seit 2005, die von echten Menschen und nicht von Maschinen geschrieben wurden. Aber das nur nebenbei.
Vor ein paar Wochen dann kam ich auf die irr-witzige Idee, Akismet einfach komplett abzustellen und somit nur noch das Simple-Trackback-Validation plugin laufen zu lassen (was ich seit Jahren nutze und was immer mitlaeuft, egal welches Spam-plugin ich zusaetzlich einsetze). Heisst also, dass ich sodann keine Kommentarspam-Abwehr mehr laufen hatte.
Und, was ist passiert? Ich wunderte mich, dass ich eher weniger Spam als zuvor bekam. Vielleicht einen oder zwei Spamkommentare, die man leicht manuell weg klicken kann. Momentan fast ausschliesslich russische Spamkommentare.
Heute dann wieder der Test und Akismet als Spam-Schutz aktiviert, und siehe da, soeben 13 Kommentarspams vor den Augen gehabt. In nicht mal einem Tag!
Irgendwas laeuft doch hier nicht richtig, oder? Ich habe das Gefuehl, dass mit der Einschaltung eines Anti-Spam-Programmes der Spam fast eher angelockt wird.
Und, ist das ‘Simple-Trackback-Validation’ plugin ueberhaupt noch zu empfehlen? Es wurde ja schon seit zwei Jahren nicht mehr upgedated…

Schweinerei! Habe anstatt eine 12 Eierpackung eine 10 Eierpackung gekauft, weil ich dachte, oh, $4.99 fuer ne Zwoelferpackung Freilandeier ist ja guenstig. Pustekuchen! Nicht nur bei den Zigarettenschachteln wird mit den Jahren die Anzahl der Glimmstengel pro Schachtel reduziert, auch bei den Eiern gibt es statt bisher nur 6 und 12 nun auch gemeine 10 Stueck-Packungen. Was soll’n das?
