Test test hellooooo
Someone out there? Finally I can see my blog here again, after I figured out that my htaccess file was the reason to cause the 500 internal server error. 
I’m running this blog now on php5, hm. I’ve read that all the .php file extensions need to be changed to .php5? I haven’t changed anything and it seems to work still?!
This is the test. If I can post this entry successfully, you can be sure I AM BACK!

Ok, it worked, but where are all my posts??? My archives are gone. I can see the posts in the database, but they are not showing up in my blog.

Oki, a few moments later and it’s all running, I can see all posts, the archives work. My inspiration lead me to the permalink structure, which needed a little update and mock around. Weird, now it is as it was before. Maybe the permalinks just needed a little attention.

Well…now I just saw my blog has trouble displaying the umlauts correctly. Sighhhhhh! I could just do a “search and replace” in my database…or use a plugin? Is there something that works with php5?

…I hooked up my blog with the ReCaptcha Anti-Comment-Spam tool provided as WordPress plugin. No single spam made it through into my moderation queue. Very nice. Less work, more blog fun. Happy Cola!

Finally, I got the plugin WP-ReCaptcha working (there was a missing code line in my comments.php).
You can see the new tool when you’re commenting, underneath the comments field. Before your comment appears on my blog, you will need to type in two words as shown by the captcha.
I’m sorry for the little extra typing effort, but lately I got quite a few more spam comments than usual and it was getting on my nerves to always log into my blog to just deal with all these spams. The plugin shall now take care of (most of) it. I’ll see.
Also, this ReCaptcha sounds quite promising in fighting spam but also in doing something very helpful and clever: It helps digitising books and old newspapers. Read more about it.
Comment problem solved
Thanks Mau for telling me that it was not possible to comment on my blog for a few days. I installed a new Anti-Spam-Plugin (wp-recaptcha), but it didn’t work, meaning it didn’t show up underneath my comments field, but I forget to de-install it, therefore, even with the anti-spam method invisible, it didn’t allow any comments. Sorry for that!
Mau, it is the same anti-spam captcha that you use. Unfortunately it doesn’t work in my blog or I don’t know what went wrong. Too bad, because I get a lot of spam comments at the moment and was really looking forward to try out this promising help against the evil out there.

Ach, du nutzt wirklich noch diese alte IE Version? Schaem dich.
Ja, ich weiss, deine Firma hat noch nicht umgesattelt auf die aktuelle IE Version oder verbreitet einfach aus Faulheit vor Rumfrickelung mit neuen IE Einstellungen das Geruecht, dass “Konflikte mit diversen Online-Applikationen” dann vorherrschen wuerden?
Wie waere es mit DIESEM Konflikt, dass mein Blog zerschlagen wird, wenn man die ALTE Version still weiterbenutzt?
Fein. Dann komm aber bloss nicht auf die Idee mein Blog von deiner Firma aus anzusurfen, es sei denn, du bist hart im Nehmen und Augenkraempfe machen dir nichts aus.
ICH sitze hier an einem (reinen) MAC und fuer den MAC wurde der IE nach der 5er Version nicht weiterentwickelt. Ich KANN also nicht mal mit der alten 6.0 Version mein Blog ansurfen, aber es ist nett, per E-Mail Kopien meines verzerrten Blogdesigns
zugeschickt zu bekommen. Nein, ehrlich, DANKE!
Aber solltest du waehrend der Arbeit nicht auch a-r-b-e-i-t-e-n, statt in meinem Blog zu lesen?

Kann es sein, dass man mit Anti-Spam plugins fuer WordPress mehr Spam bekommt, als ohne?
Ich habe den Selbsttest gemacht und habe ziemlich lange (seit 2006?) Akismet als Anti-Spam Plugin laufen gehabt. Dann habe ich vor einigen Monaten WP-Spam-Free ausprobiert und wurde nur so von Spam bombardiert, allerdings wurde mir nie gezeigt, was da genau geblockt wurde und ich wollte doch in der Kontrolle sein, dass es auch wirklich Spam war und nicht ein “echter Kommentar”, der da gefressen wurde.
Nach einer Weile habe ich wieder Akismet den Vorrang gegeben, war aber immer noch nicht zufrieden, weil da immer noch so viel durch kam. Mit viel meine ich bis zu 20 pro Tag, die nicht im Spamfilter landen (was bei meinem kleinen Blog viel ist, besonders im Verhaeltnis zu den Kommentaren). Im Juni hatte ich laut Akisment 1913 Spams, die geblockt wurden. Im Januar 2009 dagegen nur ganze vier. Falsche Positive gab es seit Maerz 2007 nur sechs, laut Akisment, aber woher weiss ich, dass da nicht was geblockt wurde, was eigentlich kein Spam war? Fast 11.000 Spam-Kommentare und Trackbacks hat Akismet in meinem Blog seit 03/2007 (seit der planetcola-Domain) ge”fangen”, dafuer habe ich nur 1.190 Kommentare seit 2005, die von echten Menschen und nicht von Maschinen geschrieben wurden. Aber das nur nebenbei.
Vor ein paar Wochen dann kam ich auf die irr-witzige Idee, Akismet einfach komplett abzustellen und somit nur noch das Simple-Trackback-Validation plugin laufen zu lassen (was ich seit Jahren nutze und was immer mitlaeuft, egal welches Spam-plugin ich zusaetzlich einsetze). Heisst also, dass ich sodann keine Kommentarspam-Abwehr mehr laufen hatte.
Und, was ist passiert? Ich wunderte mich, dass ich eher weniger Spam als zuvor bekam. Vielleicht einen oder zwei Spamkommentare, die man leicht manuell weg klicken kann. Momentan fast ausschliesslich russische Spamkommentare.
Heute dann wieder der Test und Akismet als Spam-Schutz aktiviert, und siehe da, soeben 13 Kommentarspams vor den Augen gehabt. In nicht mal einem Tag!
Irgendwas laeuft doch hier nicht richtig, oder? Ich habe das Gefuehl, dass mit der Einschaltung eines Anti-Spam-Programmes der Spam fast eher angelockt wird.
Und, ist das ‘Simple-Trackback-Validation’ plugin ueberhaupt noch zu empfehlen? Es wurde ja schon seit zwei Jahren nicht mehr upgedated…

von mir frisch becoded worden und kann es nun auch mit widgets und solchen modernen Sidebar-Spirenzchen auf sich nehmen. Juchhu! (Hat ja auch mal ‘n Weilchen gedauert, nech.)
Wer mich kennt, weiss, ich wuehle selbst gern im code herum und passe gerne meinen Blog an oder bette neue features ein. Nun, mit den widgets spart man sich ja nun echt mal ein bisl die Zeit mit dem Gefriemel und mithalten kann mein Theme nun auch. Es gibt auf wordpress.org ne Anleitung, wie man ein nicht-widgetfaehiges Theme umbaut, und ich hatte mich schon mal dran gemacht, bin aber gescheitert.
Dann hatte ich immer mal nach nem neuen, bereits widget-faehigen Theme Aussschau gehalten, aber irgendwie gefiel mir nichts so richtig…oder ich bin doch inzwischen so gut wie vermaehlt mit meinem eigens gemachten Design.
Reicht ja auch fuer meine Blogzwecke aus. Uebersichtlich und schlicht. Vor allem muss es leicht sein und schnell laden, und da sind mir die meisten angebotenen Themes doch viel zu lahm.
Nur leider ist mein Blog seit der Umprogrammierung zum widgetfaehig sein nun nicht mehr Xhtml Strict valid. Schnieefff. Aber das bekomm ich hoffentlich auch noch wieder ausgebuegelt.
Hach – so ein bischen coding und designing bereitet mir echt ne Freude und beseitigt mood-swings im Nu.

Oder wie sagt man, wenn man einen neuen header gebastelt hat? 
Es war mal wieder an der Zeit, einen neuen header zu kreieren und wie man sieht, wird es etwas dunkler auf Cola’s Blogplaneten.
Mein Planet ist ein bisschen an-gepinkt-elt (wer war’s? 
) und sieht ausserdem verzurrt und verpackt/umwickelt aus, was den ewig sich bewegenden Stein aka Planeten (…like a rolling stone) symbolisiert, der immer wieder eingepackt wird, um woanders ausgepackt zu werden, um die Welt da draussen Stueck fuer Stucke zu entdecken. Die momentane Location des Colaplaneten ist Australien, wie man an der eingepassten Karte sieht. Sobald sich der Ort, bzw. das Land aendert, aendert sich auch die Karte.
Ach ja, die nun verstaerkt hervorstechenden Anfangsbuchstaben P und C deuten nur ganz zufaellig darauf hin, dass ich ein PC user bin, obwohl ich den header auf nem MAC kreiert habe…ging ja leider nicht anders.

Doch noch mal rumgespielt und nun statt black-in-black etwas freundlicher. Nathan meinte, es haette was von einem War-Theme gehabt. Nee nee nee, also so ja nun nicht.

Please don’t be confused, yes you are right here. This is planetcola, still, just a different design, actually the default WordPress theme with a pinkish touch. I’m just trying to find a mistake with my easy picasa plugin, because it stopped working all of a sudden. I thought it might has to do with my own theme. Hmm, maybe not. Well, I can’t find the mistake at the moment and it is late and time for bed. How annoying…if I am in my blog, it is grumpy. It does not like me. Sniff. How to get my photos from picasa into my blog now?

We are not a good team at the moment.
I am working on convincing myself to keep this blog a site where I actually log my life and my thoughts. The fact: Life is busy, then not busy enough and the worst; not satisfying at the moment or to be honest for quite a while already. Ready to…(you fill the gap).
I will post photos from our nice little Easter trip in the next days, if can find the motivation and time to actually go through it. Of course I will…*slapping myself in the face*. Allrighty, that was my other half, not that one who is sleeping on the couch at the moment, no, my Gemini-half. Okay, I will try to guide my sleepy groundhog to the real bed now. Or better don’t awaken sleeping Nate-dogs? 
If you could see it how he is lying between, under and on all these new couch pillows that I bought today. He seems to like the couch for a sleep. Second night in a row that I find him asleep on it. Ikea is not so bad, isn’t it? Ich habs ja gesagt (I said (knew) it before), this couch is very comfy. Still, off to the real bed now.
