Der kleine Maulwurf – The little mole
DE
Der kleine Maulwurf graebt sich bis nach Frankreich. Da sagt er: “Guten Tag. Ich bin der kleine Maulwurf mit dem kleinen gruenen Eimer. Gebt mir alles, was ihr habt!”

The little mole digs himself to France and says: “Hello. I am the little mole with the small green bucket. Give me everything you have!” The French give him baguette and red wine. He digs further until reaching Germany. Says: “Hello, I am the little mole with the small green bucket, give me everything you have!” The Germans give him rye bread and potatoes. He continues digging and reaches Poland. “Hello, I am the little mole with the…damn, where is my bucket?!”
Just realised that I don’t know any jokes about Australia or its neighbouring countries…what kind of jokes are people telling each other here? I should probably know by now, but I don’t.

Lately the weeks go by and it feels like nothing exciting happened or it happened way too much in too little time.
Spring has started to spread its wings and when I come home at 7pm it is not completely dark any more. Yippie for the beautiful season with wild flowers all over Perth, yippie for our tree starting to grow back its thick green leaves, yippie for warmer nights. Not so happy for the greasy sunblock lotion that we need to apply to our skin now again more often.
I am still working too many hours in the week, don’t feel relaxed enough after one day a week off, but have the inner feeling I have to do this a little while longer. Nathan is totally overworked as well; at least we understand each others grumpiness.
Spring time means refreshing and renewing energy levels. Although it is green in Perth all year around, many flowers are only to be seen in full bloom during Spring time, because they mostly dry out in the hot summer.
Perth smells beautiful at the moment. We are going for our usual walks in the parks and are almost jumping high of excitement when we see the most amazing flowers around us. Some of them look very unique as we haven’t seen them anywhere else before.
Renewing energy levels also means throwing out old things that are no longer needed. Such as our beautiful old wardrobe, which has a date stamp from 1941 on its back and a personal story from the owner who said it was her sisters wardrobe…back then.
I took some photos to show how we usually move our furniture or otherwise no one would believe it. This wardrobe here was damn heavy and it took a while to move it from the bedroom through two doors and then out of the main door onto Nathan’s little “Suzy” car. Who needs a rental truck or people who move furniture for you if we can do it ourselves.
It can be fun, too (especially if I, in the middle of photo number two, say “hold on hon, I have to take a quick photo…leaving the man with the heavy thing alone, hearing complaints, smiling back and taking a quick photo…haha). Well, it all needs to be preserved for the future, doesn’t it?
[HELP: Why don't these images line up next to each other but underneath each other? Alignnone, Alignleft doesn't do the trick...any ideas?] [Oct 21, 2011: I figured it out. Better late than never.]
I am not only de-cluttering our home in Perth, but also (still) selling of my belongings in home number one. Recently I thought I would give it a try to sell my two old crt monitors. If no one wants them I could drop the price (5€ and 10€) to $0 and if still no one wants them, they can go to the recycling/rubbish pit.
BUT- one monitor is in new hands already. For 5€ my dad even delivered it to the guy who only has a scooter, but no car to transport it himself. Schwesterherz, this was your monitor by the way.
I told Dad he could spend the money on something nice, but NO cigarillos.
His answer: “Wenn ich mir für die 5 € keine Cigarillos kaufen darf, werde ich das Geld in Aktien oder Investmentfonds anlegen, mal sehen, was mehr Gewinn bringt.” Very funny…if he can’t buy cigarillos he wants to invest the money (jokingly).
I am glad that the monitor didn’t end up in the dump. My dad told me there are a lot of old CRT monitors at the local recycling place…no one wants them. Well…I made one guy happy and didn’t need to add it to the already high trash pile.

When people ask me if I miss my home (Germany) I usually say ‘no’.
On my way home from work I stopped at an IGA supermarket and only wanted to look if they have “Apfelmus” (apple sauce) how I know it from ‘home’. See with what I came home:
The cookies and the liquorice are a treat for the mister. Same with his beloved sweet chilli sauce…the apple sauce is for my bakings.
Noooo, I don’t miss home.
Happy smiling
Just a quick note on my smiley buttons below the comment field. I’ve fixed the problem and they are working again. If you’re still having problems, please let me know.
Herzlichst,
eure missycola
Spelling
Why didn’t my readers let me know that I spelled my category folder name ‘Delicious’ wrong? The second ‘i’ was missing. Oh noooo! How embarassing.
Any other spelling mistakes? Please don’t hesitate and tell me. As you might know…I am a (correct) spelling junkie.
Which moov’s to choose?
Oh no!! A while back a friend over in Sydney (hello Mau!) discovered these cool Moov-boots made of Australian sheepskin inside and waterproof latex rubber outside. Perfect for wet and cold winter weather. I was thinking about getting a pair of Ugg boots on sale, but they are not waterproof, which is the downside. Now I just saw the Moov boots in last years style (which I liked) 50% off! I thought I would go with the black gloss, but maybe I should risk some colour? Pinkypink? What do you think? (That was a rhyme, oh fine!)
Black is always beautiful and goes with anything

Just for the comparison: the new black gloss seems to be a tad different (more gloss? thicker sole? but unfortunately also twice the price, which is $280)

or bubblegum pink against the “always boring black” look?

If I pay with Euros it is even more a bargain *grin*…hmmm Hannah, would I be able to ship them to you and leave them there until next summer?
They will be so much better than the Ugg boots. especially in wet weathers….and they will also look better…imagine them with a dress or skirt!
We love…
After a 50 hour work week Nathan and I enjoyed the last sunny hour of the week together in one of our favourite parks in front of our door step. Bold Park, Zamia trail, sunset watching deluxe:
Enjoying quiet time far away from civilisation (jokingly…we’re just around our house, but in distance from Perth’s busy CBD)

Enjoying beauty and the sky

Enjoying togetherness (oh yeah, I look tired after my 50 hour work marathon)

Enjoying deliciousness

Enjoying relaxing moments (An die Familie: es ist immer noch tiefster Winter. :P)

Enjoying winter or almost spring flowers

Loving sunsets in Perth
“Our beach” just a spit from our house

Sunset watching cow’lady in the dunes

Sunset surf

Sun down moon up

Winter Whistle
Yay, we have sold our heater. Yay, the cold winter that we haven’t had yet has just arrived with a cold front and one or the other shower.
Bad timing for being without a heater but good the other way, because we sold the heater for more than we thought we would get.
But,
no one will understand, how missy now survives the cold in down under.
I thought I write it down. Just for the records. For later, to remember, when I look back to those cold days in the hot country.
When I am about to go to bed, I throw my pyjama’s into the dryer on the hot setting. While waiting for the clothes in the dryer I am standing in the freezing bathroom (wearing a hat, some kind of fleece pullover and definitely long socks) with the running hair dryer pointed at me while brushing my teeth.
About 5 to 10 minutes later I stop the clothes dryer and get my pj’s out and quickly put them on. I basically jump into them. Ahhhhh so nice and warm! I ruuuuun into bed to keep the heat coming of the pj’s for as long as possible. The bed is freeeeezing cold. I pull the two blankets up to my nose and dream of the next hot summer where we sleep naked while having two fans pointed at our bed, STILL sweating our bums off, and not able to fall asleep because it is just too hot!
A nice thought, when you can’t feel your toes or the tips of your fingers, even though you’re under two thick blankets and you wear a fleece pullover over your pj’s and even a hat (!) as your night gown.
Bye bye heater, hope you have a nice new home!

All Smiles (guitarist from Grandaddy & Modest Mouse) is giving away a free album. A friend of mine posted this on facebook and I was curious but sceptical as usual. The download took about half an hour with my slow connection, but in the end you really get the whole album. They want you to “like” them on facebook (which I didn’t because I wanted to know if it really works and if I really like it). In a nutshell: I like their album. Good music! What is really free these days…okay, they might collect some data, but I’m not sharing my profile info with them, as I didn’t “like” them although I like their music. Making sense? Well…go for the free album if you haven’t got it yet or if you want to have some new music for free. I can really recommend it. Inspected and trusted by missycola.

When this screen comes up only click on “Download Now” and ignore the twitter and facebook stuff if you don’t feel sure about it.
Today a little picture quiz
This is a though one. Even my
needed a looong minute to solve this. Good luck!
The ones who already know…
