As of now, February 9, I initiated the domain transfer to namecheap.com. I have changed the domain name server from my old registrar (godaddy) to the new (namecheap), which should insure that my site has almost no downtime during the process. When this is done, I’ll connect the site with a new hosting provider.

Who knows, maybe the new hosting provider, which is the more important part than the registrar, will screw it all up as well? There are so many ways how one can screw up. You never know what you get. Tonight we celebrate a little bit. The heartman submitted his phd-Thesis (Doctorate) and the missy is already very proud that and how he has endured the last, today exactly, four years writing that research paper with all those (mostly ridiculous) problems he had to deal with at the university in Perth Australia. Finally, he/we can close THAT book and move on with our lives.

We were planning on going to the movies to watch “The Grey”, but missed the show and are now watching “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” on (rental) DVD.
When I was younger I was kinda scared of the first “Planet of the Apes” movie. (*g*) Let’s see how I cope now – all grown up (you’d think, but I don’t).

Why do men never listen?

We are at the beach, mr.Natey and I and a few other people we don’t know. There are quite a few people in the water, but somehow I don’t feel comfortable. Not only because it’s winter. No, something isn’t right.

All of a sudden I see shadows in the water. They are about an arm length long and quickly moving. Sharks?

I am pretty sure, but mr.Natey doesn’t think so. He wants to go into the water. I say “Please don’t go, there are sharks in there.” He’s going a step forward and I’m now whining: “Please don’t go. I promise you I’ll cook you dinner every night until the rest of your day, but please don’t go into the water!” I’m totally frightened, but mr.Natey thinks I’m overreacting, as so often.

Then I’m going a few steps back and see all those sharks lined up on the shore. They are standing on their back-fin and they organized themselves from small shark on the left to humongous and extremely large (2-story-house tall) on the right. A line of about 6 sharks, all shapes and sizes. They are kind of smiling at me and the other people at the beach.

Nathan, oh why, is going towards the shore and is lining up next to the largest shark with his back to the ocean. He’s like “Look at me, I’m not afraid, I can even stand next to the biggest sharks and it’s all fine.”

Then, all of a sudden, the humongous shark smirks and swings his left fin, which is about the size of an American-sized van, and hits and pushes (or rather smashes) mr.Natey way far away into the deep and dark ocean. No one would survive that hit. Not even a mr.Natey “hero”.

AMERICAN CANDY and CHOCOLATE….! I didn’t know that I love it that much! I think I never had it really or I never knew what Nathan grew up on…never really knew which chocolates came from England and which from the States….but now I am hooked!!
Yes, wow, a real competitor to my beloved German chocolate sweets.

Nathan and I were (almost) fighting…no actually we have been fighting over this bag:

A little bit of everything ‘American chocolates’.
It was a little gift from my manager who recently came back from a short holiday in the USA.

You should know that I am not very good at sharing when it is chocolate. When I received the bag I had a night out and Nathan stayed at home. He asked me, if he could have a few pieces. (!!!!)
Pardon? Hello? I just got this bag, don’t even have time to look at it, because I’m going out, and he wants a piece BEFORE I even get to it? NO! Hell, no, how can he even be so brave and ask?
Well, this caused the first little argument. Haha.

I needed the right moment to take the bag of sweets on my lap, and the right moment to be in the mood for it to eat some. If you know what I mean.

Mr Natey didn’t like this at all. He said I was mean, very mean to say he could not have something from this bag which had all of his childhood favourites in it. He said I cannot leave it lying around, not eating anything. Mean mean mean. *giggle*
How about a bit of self-control Mr CandyPopcornOholic? :P
Well, I didn’t say he could not have anything forever…just for the moment, no.

In the end (I gave in and) he had his first piece before I had my try.
BUT…HE KEPT ASKING FOR MORE AND MORE!!

We argued…a lot…other people argue about important things (like which TV channel to watch, lol), we argue about who can have which kind of chocolate and in which time frame. I mean, if I didn’t control “the USA bag” we would have eaten everything in one go. I want good things to last. My man doesn’t understand why and for what I want to save them for.
Well, maybe to keep the delicious moments for longer than just one or two days? Especially when we cannot just go to the next shop to buy more of these….they don’t sell them here.

I am so bad. I just remembered that it was ME who grew up with a sister and who (should have) learned to share things. Nathan is a single child…but so well behaved and so patient when it comes to sharing. I tell ya, for sure this earth’s chocolate has led to civil wars back then. I am sure! Evil stuff…

I NOW UNDERSTAND WHY HE WAS SO MAD AT ME….mad for the awesome chocolates. Because – they – are – so – goooood! Australia can go home. England can go home. A lot of countries can go home. American old school chocolates are just so very delicious and special in the taste. How could I have missed trying them the last two time when I was in the States? *wondering*

The Hershey’s kisses with the white chocolate and the cookie pieces in it are just to melt-away! So tiny but so good.
The tootsie roll reminds me of “Toffee” from Germany. Reese’s pieces are so much better than M&M’s (they look the same, but the filling is peanut butter instead of chocolate).

Who would have known that I became such a peanut butter fan?

I haven’t had Nutella for over two years now. Can you believe it?

That is what happens if you live your life with an American cowboy.
Just weird how his mother said to me once that he never had such a craving for sweets? He is madly involved in the choco-sweetness business.

You might not believe it, but we have had the choc bag for a few weeks now and there are still around 12 pieces in it.

Tonight we were a lovely couple and shared an “Almond Joy” chocolate bar. What a joy!

Yesterday we went food shopping and guess what we saw? A long bar of “Tootsie Roll”, “3 Musketeers”, “100 Grand”, and another one that I forgot the name of; all next to the check-out of an IGA store.
This is brand new. We shop there quite often and they never had those. But now, just now, after we had this American chocolates bag. Weird!!!!

Shanghaiboy reached Perth Airport after a long day of travelling from the far lands of China back home to Australia. Exhausted and tired he got picked up from the airport at 11.30pm last night. But before falling into the freshly made bed he gave me a few of the more to come little presents from China! Ohhh…photos will follow. So pretty…!

The mister’s luggage is still in China and will be delivered tomorrow morning (hopefully). Somehow he has no luck with luggage travelling WITH him. Maybe he has just bad luck in picking the good airlines, although this time he could not choose the airline, because the university did. Whatever happened, the luggage with more gifts will be here tomorrow.

However, I am glad that the airplane brought him home safe, after reading that only a few days ago a Cathay Pacific airbus had an engine failure and only landed safely at Hong Kong’s airport (only eight people injured, it said) because the pilots were doing a great job.

Schoen wars! Bei unserem Lieblings-Sushi-nesen Hanami in Mt. Lawley und beim Eismann nebenan. Obwohl es mich gerade mit ner dicken Erkaeltung erwischt hatte, wollte ich das Cola-Natey-Jubilaeumsdinner, was der Herr des Hauses reserviert hatte, nicht sausen lassen. Wir hatten Glueck und bekamen einen der zwei begehrten Tische, wo man an einem niedrigen Tisch sitzt und die Fuesse in einer Art Luke unter dem Tisch freihaengend baumeln. Schuhe sind nicht gestattet. Man sitzt auf nem Kissen auf ner Art holzvertaefelten erhoehten Buehne im Restaurant. Sehr stylisch und oft ausgebucht; aber wir hatten Glueck unser 5-Jahres-Jubilaeum in unserem Lieblingsrestaurant an unserem LIeblingstisch geniessen zu koennen. Und nun, lass es Sushi regnen… Vorspeise Hanahmi Special Salad, Pork Goyza, dann Assorted Sushi (21 Stuecke), Avocado Roll (10 Stuecke), Unagi (Aal, 5 Stuecke), extra Reis (haetten wir gut weglassen koennen), und gruenen Tee mit geroesteten Reiskoernern.

Das letzte Bild zeigt, das die Augen groesser waren, als der Magen…oder es lag daran, dass wir beide gesundheitlich nicht so 100% fit waren. Mit ner Erkaeltung hat man ja meist nicht so viel Hunger. Der Salat zur Vorspeise war von der Groesse her schon ne Hauptspeise und die Avocado im Salat hat ordentlich satt gemacht.
Unsere Sushi Reste wurden sehr nett verpackt. Wir bekamen noch neue Sojasosse in kleinen Tuetchen und frischen Ingwer dazu. Am naechsten Tag hatten wir also noch mal genug uebrig fuer einen sushi-lunch.
Ich hatte die Sushi-rollen beim Hanami kleiner in Erinnerung…diesmal waren die kaum als Ganzes in den Mund zu schieben. Hier bekommt man wirklich nicht nur beste Qualitaet, sondern auch ordentlich grosse Sushi Rollen. Toll!

Was hier anscheinend anderes ist, als in Deutschland oder in den USA, ist, dass in fast alle (oder sogar alle?) Maki-Rollen Mayonaise hinein getan wird. Finden wir nicht so toll, daher gibt es von uns immer die z.B. Avo-Maki-ohne Mayo Bestellung. Ob das wohl drueben in Sydney auch das mayo-verseuchte sushi gibt?

Der Eisbecher nannte sich ‘Hot Fudge Sundae’ und ich sage euch, seit dem ich den gegessen habe, will ich hot fudge jeden Tag!!
Das Zeug ist sowas von lecker. Der Mann konnte, mal wieder, nicht verstehen, dass ich das jetzt erst zum ersten Mal gegessen habe. Ich auch nicht. Fudge ist sowas wie ne warme klebrige caramel-toffige Sosse a la Schokolade, die einfach suechtig macht.
Eis essen ist hier uebrigens eine nicht so guenstige Angelegenheit, da der Kugelpreis bei um die $3.50 anfaengt. Meine 3-Kugel-Manier aus Deutschland wuerde mich hier arm machen. Fuer drei Kuegeln Eis bekomme ich ja schon eine grosse Maki-roll mit zehn grossen Sushi-Happen, hehe.
Der Eisbecher war mit $6 (eine Kugel) aber reichlich gefuellt und ein guter Deal.

Ich widme der Loesung meines PiCola quiz einen seperaten Eintrag, da der werte Herr ganz entsetzt war, als er sah, was fuer ein schlechtes Bild ich von seiner Vase da aufgenommen hatte. Ja, ich weiss, es waren schlechte Lichtverhaeltnisse und besser hab ichs (zugegeben auf die Schnelle) nicht hinbekommen. So wurde gestern also hier im Wohnzimmer ein Fotostudio eingerichtet und eine bessere Kamera benutzt. Also nochmal:

Happy 5-Year Cola-Natey-Anniversary!

Zum Picola quiz im letzten Eintrag: Das Herzchenfoto ist 5 Jahre alt, die Blumen gabs vom Mann, die Vase wurde in Handarbeit selbst gemachtblasen und kam als Geschenk dazu, die Erdbeeren sollten nur die Zahl 5 fuer unsere gemeinsamen Jahre symbolisieren. Voila!

Wow, fuenf Jahre und wir haben schon so viel von der Welt zusammen gesehen, schon auf drei verschiedenen Kontinenten zusammen gelebt und dennoch gibt es Vieles, was wir gemeinsam bereisen und entdecken wollen. Vor fuenf Jahren hier in Perth beim Studieren kennen gelernt, in Deutschland und in den USA gelebt, und es ist, als waere fast keine Zeit vergangen. Wir koennen zusammen lachen, weinen, albern sein, feiern, ueber alles Moegliche philosophieren, und uns mit Kleinigkeiten gegenseitig erheitern. Wir schwaermen fuer ein gutes Essen, das wir gemeinsam zaubern und bei Kerzenschein geniessen (auch taegliches Abendbrot genannt). Gegensaetze ziehen sich an, koennte fuer uns gelten…doch genau die Gegensaetze bringen die Magie der Anziehung mit sich. Wir lieben gemeinsame Unternehmungen und streiten uns grundsaetzlich nicht, sobald wir “im Urlaub auf Reisen” sind. Unternehmungen ist das, wofuer wir leben. Wenn man so zurueck blickt, haben wir doch schon ne Menge erlebt, wenn wir auch die ersten 4 Jahre eine Fernbeziehung ueber zwei Kontinente hinweg gefuehrt haben. Es geht alles, man muss es nur wollen. In unserem Wunschland Australien fuer die naechsten Jahre, und mal sehen, wo es uns als naechtes hintreibt…immer noch “like a rolling stone”, und mal sehen, ob und wann der Stein ausrollt und zur Ruhe kommt.

Schampus (ich wollte doch echt Champus schreiben *g*) fuer alle – Auf die naechsten 5 Jahre und viele mehr!

What can that mean? OYO is the new slang for One Year Older. It is my Birthday today, yeah!

Here are some photos from the surprise birthday party, which Nathan organised for me last Sunday!

He worked until 1pm and we planned to do something in the afternoon together. He called at 2pm that he is helping a friend from work with something and he will be home a bit later. So I waited. Then he called and said he wanted to come home now, but his car won’t start (again, a usual problem since weeks). I went down to the beach, where he was, to pick him up.
When I arrived Nathan wanted to say bye to his colleague and asked me to come with him. At this point Nathan acted a bit weird. Then I smelled his beer breath and said: well, you said you are helping a friend, but you smell like you just had a beer together at the beach…Suspicious…I started getting a tiny bit angry, because it was so important to him, that we spend time together after his work, but he just went to have a beer with his work colleague/friend.

Happy Easter to our family and friends, and to my dear blog readers!

We are leaving the big city for three days to enjoy the nature around Nannup at the Blackwood River. We’ve heard that the Margaret River area (our first planned area) will be too crowded with Easter people, therefore Nathan made new plans. Going a bit more inland to the beautiful area around Nannup. Camping (sleeping in my new car ), hiking, relaxing, fishing, maybe canoing; and everything far away from all these crazy holiday people.

Our My car is packed, food is prepared, the mattress is rolled up on the back seat (we want to have it nice and comfy), Nathan will come home from work in the next minutes, and then we’ll leave!

By the way, has anyone heard that port (wine) is good against mosquitos? My friend K. told me, if you drink a bit before sunset, you won’t get bitten. Of course I need to try this out. Me, who always gets eaten by these beasts…

What are your middle names?
Ich hätte gerne einen, aber in meiner Generation sind Mittelnamen nicht üblich gewesen. Der werte Herr heisst mit Zweitnamen Allan. Er stammt auch fast aus einer anderen Generation.

I would like to have one, but in my generation it wasn’t popular to have middle names. The mister is also called Allan and he could be almost from a different generation. Hehe.

How long have you been together?
Im fünf Monaten sind es fünf Jahre.

Who asked whom out?
Ich glaube, ich war etwas offensiver. Aber so genau kann man das gar nicht mehr sagen, da wir uns in einer Gruppe internationaler Studenten kennen gelernt hatten und wir uns meist gegenseitig via sms gefragt haben, ob der andere auch bei dieser oder jener Unternehmung dabei sei.

I think I was a bit more offensive. It is hard to tell exactly, because we’ve met in a group of international students, and mostly asked each other via sms if the other would like joing this or that activity.

How long did you know each other before you started dating?
Ein paar Tage, bzw. Wochen. Das war ein schleichender Prozess.

Als ich in die Pubertät kam, wurde er grad eingeschult. Ich habe die dritte Nullung bereits hinter mir. Kapische?

Weder noch. Wir wohnen ja nun am A**** der Welt.

Neither. We now live in the middle of nowhere, far away from all siblings.
Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
Hm, hier musste ich wirklich am Längsten überlegen. Wir sind beide keine guten Beifahrer, was daran liegt, dass wir beide sehr gute Autofahrer sind. Wenn wir allerdings mit dem Auto reisen, dann haben wir da überhaupt keine Probleme. Nur im Alltag gibt es da ab und an beifahrerisches Herzrasen.
Der Alltagsstress ist wohl die grösste Herausforderung, mit der wir uns arrangieren müssen.

This question made me think the longest. Neither of us is a good passenger, which is due to being very good drivers both. If we are on a holiday travel by car, we don’t have any problems though. The everyday life probably is the hardest to accomplish.

Did you go to the same school?
Nein, wir sind ja nicht mal im gleichen Land aufgewachsen.

No, we didn’t even grow up in the same country.

Are you from the same home town?
Nein, wie gesagt, anderes Land.

Who is smarter?
Oh, so direkt lässt sich das nicht beantworten. Ich glaube, wir haben halten uns da die Waage. Ja, ehrlich. Trotz Ami! Aber ich will mich jetzt nicht noch mehr verstricken. Nathan der Weise steht seinem jungen Dasein in nichts nach und konnte mich schon nach wenigen Wochen mit seinem wachen Geist begeistern und hat bei allgemeinen (besonders geschichtlichen/geographischen/ähem mathematischen) Wissensabfragen oft die Nase vorn. Der Mann ist ein Genie. Punkt. Aus.

Oh, that can’t be answered directly. I think we are on one level. Honestly. Despite, he is an American! But I don’t want to get caught up any more, hui. Nathan The Wise doesn’t take second place because of his young age. After a few weeks only I was really attrackted to his wit. At general knowledge (esp. historical, geographical, mhh mathematical) he mostly is ahead by a nose. The man is a Genius. Period.

Who is the most sensitive?
Moi. Aber das kann man/Frau ja immer schön auf die Hormone schieben.

Me, but as woman it is easy to blame the hormons.

Where do you eat out most as a couple?
Wenn überhaupt, dann gehen wir wohl am liebsten zum Sushi-Mann. Wir sind aber mehr die Home-Cooks und sind wir meistens glücklicher mit dem Essen, dass wir selbst kochen. Schmeckt besser und ist günstiger.

If, then we mostly go out to eat sushi. Generally we are more the home-cooks and we are mostly more happy with food cooked by ourselves. Tastes better and is cheaper.

Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
In und um Australien herum (von Perth nach Darwin, dann rüber nach Cairns und runter bis nach Sydney), alles via Auto, das auch gleichzeitig (neben wenigen Ausnahmen) als Schlafplatz diente.

In and around Australia (from Perth to Darwin, then over to Cairns, and down to Sydney), all by car, which also was our sleeping “room” (most of the time).

Who has the craziest exes?
Über dieses Ex-Thema wurde bei uns bisher noch nicht wirklich gesprochen. Ich hatte es damals mal versucht, aber aus dem Mann war kaum was rauszubekommen. Von einer Äusserung des Herrn Natey weiss ich nur, dass amerikanische Frauen irgendwie alle einen an der Marmel haben und ich da nun schon ganz gut bin. Puh, da bin ich ja beruhigt. Und ich dachte, ich wäre nicht einfach.

We have never really talked about this topic. Back in the days, I tried it a few times to pull some information out of Mr N., but I didn’t really succeed. I only know that his experience is that American missy’s are all a bit crazy. Well, good for me. And I thought I am not an easy missy.

Who has the worst temper?
Der Mann ist die Ruhe und Geduld in Person und hat sich besser unter Kontrolle. Das sagt alles, oder?

The man is peace and patience in a person and has better control over himself. This says it all, doesn’t it?

Who does the cooking?
Eigentlich hatte der Mann das Kochen von Anfang an zu 90% übernommen, was sehr angenehm war. Seit ich aber auch mehr Spass am Kochen habe (und wohl auch besser geworden bin), übernehme ich das Kochen immer häufiger. Dennoch ist er DER Koch und er könnte locker ein Restaurant aufmachen und ich wäre ein zahlender Gast.

First, the better half took over the cooking to 90%, which was very nice. Since I also enjoy cooking (and since I improved at doing it), I am cooking more often. Still, he is THE chef and could easily open a restaurant and I would be a paying guest.

Who is the neat-freak?
Hält sich fast die Waage. Ich vegebe die Punkte 40:60 und sage nicht, wer was ist.

This is roughly equal. I would say it is 40:60 and I am not revealing who is on which side.

Who is more stubborn?
Ganz klar ich. Wenn ich mir etwas in den Kopf gesetzt habe, kann ich sehr beharrlich und ausdauernd werden.

No doubt, that’s me. If I want something, I can be very insistent and persistent.

Who hogs the bed?
Der Mann sagt ja immer ich würde ihn an den Rand drängen und mich in die Decke einrollen, so dass er nachts frierend aufwache, aber wenn ich mal nach ihm ins Bett gehe, dann muss ich ihn meist erstmal sämtliche nach allen Seiten ausgestreckten Körperteile zusammenfalten und beiseite schieben. Frage beantwortet?

Nathan always says that I would push him to the side and I’d take over the blanket, so that he is waking up freezing. But when I go to bed when he already is asleep, I need to fold several outstreched parts of the body together and push the sleeping innocence aside. Question answered?

Who wakes up earlier?
Wenn ich aufstehen muss, dann bin ich definitiv schneller aus dem Bett. Keiner von uns wacht jedoch freiwillig ohne Weckerklingeln auf. Dafür schlafen wir beide zu wenig.

If I need to get up, I am definitely faster. Both of us would not wake up without the alarm. Both of us don’t sleep enough.

Where was your first date?
Irgendwie hatten wir nie so ein richtiges erstes Date.

Somehow we never really had a real first date.

Who is more jealous?
Ich dachte immer ich sei da emotionaler, aber der Herr ist da auch nicht ohne.

I thought I am more emotional at this, but the mister is also good at it.

How long did it take to get serious?
Ungefähr einen Monat, in dem man sich aber jeden Tag gesehen hat.

About a month, in which we saw each other every day.

Who eats more?
Alle, die mich kennen, würden bestimmt mich benennen, aber seit meiner Gluten- und Laktose-Diät hat sich mein Magen verkleinert und nun esse ich etwa genauso viel wie die bessere Hälfte. Bei Kartoffeln streiten wir uns aber immer noch, wie viele wir kochen, denn mit zwei Kartoffeln pro Person bin ich nie niemals einverstanden. Nathan versteht nie, wie ich immer so viele Kartoffeln kochte und essen kann.

Everyone who knows me would say me, but I must say since I started with the gluten and lactose diet my stomach shrunk and now I am eating about as much as my better half. It is different with potatoes, I don’t know why, but I can’t only cook two or maximum four potatoes, because I eat at least four by myself. I guess it is because I grew up with eating lots and lots of potatoes. Haha!!

Who does the laundry?
Meistens ich, und ich mach das auch gerne. Allerdings mag ich das Aufhängen und Zusammenfalten und Wegräumen weniger. Bügeln ist die nervigste hausfrauliche Tätigkeit und wird von uns beiden gleich wenig ausgeübt.

Mostly me and I like to do that. Well, I don’t really like the hanging, folding, storing of laundry. Ironing is the worst housework in my opinion and both of us do it the same less.

Who’s better with the computer?
Icke, aber die bessere Hälfte ist gut mit diversen Programmen und kann sich in alles schnell reinarbeiten. Bei generellen Computer Problemen, werde ich meist um Hilfe gefragt.

This would be me again. The better half is very good with diverse programs and is good at working himself into new programs, but if the computer has a problem or he wants to do something special and doesn’t know how, I often get asked.

Who drives when you are together?
Meistens er, was daran liegt, dass er zwei Autos hat und ich (noch) keins. Was auch daran liegt, dass er sehr pingelig mit seinen Autos ist. Ja, es sind alte Autos und die darf man nicht sportlich fahren, weil da schnell was kaputt gehen kann.
Ich bin da auch meist bequem und lass mich gern chauffieren. Der Mann kennt die Abkürzungen und Strassen in Perth auch besser als ich, was daran liegt, dass er einfach mehr durch die Gegend fährt.
Aber bald habe ich mein eigenes Gefährt…dazu mehr in einem der nächsten Einträgen.

Mostly him, which results in him having two cars and me having none (yet). Also, he is very picky with his cars. Yes, the cars are old and fragile and one cannot drive them too sporty, because something can break easily. No worries, I am happy with being driven around. He knows the roads in Perth better anyway (because he drives more). But soon…soon I will have my own transportation…more about this in on of the next entries.
