Hello world. We’re currently enjoying the nicest winter we had since we’re in down under. The sun is shining every day (ok, that’s not really news) and it hasn’t rained much at all. Actually, I could probably count with one hand how often it has rained this winter….this is the first winter where we have to water our garden beds, because the weather is way too dry for this season. Last winter was very wet and often it rained for days straight and not much sun was seen… July, August and September.
This year: totally different!

Anyhow, we can’t complain as every day and every weekend is perfect outdoor weather…and we’re enjoying it as much as possible. Last weekend even felt like summer is back. So warm! This weekend we had a “barbie” and sat outside until almost midnight…but wrapped up in warm clothes of course.

Globale Verdummung haelt weiterhin Einzug

Als wenn es nicht schon schlimm genug ist, dass immer mehr kids sich im Internet tuemmeln und sich von anderen Internetlern die schlechte bzw. falsche Rechtschreibung abgucken. Und das passiert nicht nur Kindern, denn auch unter Erwachsenen sehe ich immer oefter diese Faulheit, was das richtige Schreiben der eigenen Sprache angeht.

Aber nun ist es amtlich! Die allmaehliche Verdummung der Menschheit ist GEWOLLT! Es scheint eine Taktik zu sein.

Schaut selbst. Hier ein Werbemagazin einer hiesigen Supermarktkette.

BakedBeanz? Hallo? Hat jemand da das ‘s’ zu zackig gemalt, oder was?

Hier dann der augenscheinliche Beweis, dass an dem einst serioesen Heinz geruettelt wurde, um sich auf ein paar Stufen tiefer mit dem coolen, poebelnden Volk das ach so coole ‘high-five’ der Jugendsprache zu geben.

Meine bessere amerikanische Haelfte sagte dazu nur, “Wie? Das wurde doch schon immer so geschrieben, das ist nicht neu von Heinz, das ist deren Schreibweise”. Er war ganz unbeeindruckt. Oh…ist das ein Wort? Unbeeindruckt? Oder kommt das gar von “unimpressed”? Ups, na, da muss ich ja nun selbst mal aufpassen, dass ich mit meinem australischen Kopf ueberhaupt noch vernuenftiges Deutsch schreibe. Grins.

Ich glaube aber, dass Heinz die Bohnen-Schreibweise erst vor Kurzem geaendert haben. Zum Wohle der aufstrebenden neuen Ich-schreibe-gern-alles-mit-Absicht-falsch-weil-es-so-cool-ist-Generation. Das hat halt sowas Punkiges. Einfach mal anders sein ist ja gut und schoen, aber heutzutage ist man ja keine Ausnahme mehr, wenn man alles (wenn auch mit Absicht) falsch schreibt. Wo man hinguckt, wird umgangssprachlich geschrieben und gesimst (sms via Handy). Ich vermisse das professionelle Umfeld. Hallo – Echo – wo bist du?
Ich ertappe mich staendig dabei sogar meine Chefs bei ihrer (englischen) Rechtschreibung zu verbessern. Ich bekomme sms von Vorgesetzten, die ich erstmal entschluesseln muss, weil alles umgangssprachlich und abgekuerzt ist…keiner kann mir sagen, dass das nur zum Zwecke der Zeichenersparnis (beim sms schreiben) ist…ob man nun “be” oder “b” schreibt…tolle Ersparnis um EINEN Buchstaben. Wow. Glueckwunsch! Ihr zahlt monatlich eure 100 Dollar fuer euren iphone Vertrag, da kommt es doch nicht drauf an, ob ihr alles in EINE sms quetscht oder zwei draus macht. Eine sms kostet doch nur 19cent.
Sollten Chefs nicht dennoch eine gewisse Vorbildfunktion haben?
Ok, wer nicht kann, der kann halt nicht, aber der, der eigentlich weiss, wie’s geschrieben wird, warum zum Teufel……!

Ach hoert auf!

Was die Rechtschreibung anbelangt bin ich grundtief spiessig und konservativ. Heutzutage ist es doch schon cool, wenn man KEIN piercing hat (habe aus unter anderem diesen Grund meins schon vor langer Zeit rausgenommen), wenn man KEIN Tattoo hat, wenn man KEIN Handy (sollte ich iphone sagen?) besitzt (geht das ueberhaupt noch?) und wenn man die Rechtschreibung beherrscht und es nicht albern findet, es auch zu zeigen.

Puh…es kommen Rauchschwaden aus meinen Ohren.

Hat ne Weile gedauert, bis ich mir gemerkt hab, wieviele j’s und i’s da drin sind und dann habe ich gar nicht mitbekommen, dass aus Kijiji.de nun E*bay Kleinanzeigen geworden ist. Erst fand ich den Namen Kijiji total doof, vor allem, weil er so schwierig zu merken war. Habe Freunden mehrmals gesagt, ‘geh doch mal auf Kijiji’, und habe dann Unverstaendnis geerntet. Aber der neue Name E*bay Kleinanzeigen ist ja sowas von unspektakulaer und vor allem mit dem negativen Hauch von E*bay. Kijiji war schon vorher mit e*bay verbunden; als Schwesterunternehmen. Doch das hat man beim ersten Blick auf den Namen halt nicht gleich gewusst.

Nun ja, ich habe dennoch mal wieder ein paar Anzeigen aufgegeben…es gibt immer noch einiges aus meinem ehemaligen deutschen Leben loszuwerden und mein Papa macht das mit dem Verpacken und Verschicken grandios!
Bisher hatte ich schon viele Aufrufe meiner Verkaufsanzeigen, aber noch keine Nachricht zwecks Kaufinteresse. Vor 2-3 Jahren, als ich anfing ‘Kijiji’ zu verwenden, war die Seite noch nicht so ueberflutet mich Anzeigen. Mal sehen, ob ich noch genauso viel Glueck wie damals habe, meine Sachen loszuwerden.

Nach vierzehn Tagen bekam ich eine Mitteilung von e*bay Kleinanzeigen, dass ich nun kostenlos meine Anzeigen “nach oben” in der Liste puschen kann, wenn ich sie weiterhin anbieten moechte. Wie nett! Ob das nun alle vierzehn Tage angeboten wird? Das waere ja mal was, was man bei der australischen Variante Gumtree nur entgeltlich (oder mit dem Anzeige loeschen und wieder neu einstellen Trick) machen kann.

Ich frage mich, wann meine Ecken eigentlich mal leer sind, und ob ich dann eine innere aufgeraeumte Zufriedenheit fuehle. Ich bin zwar Teil der Wegwerfgeneration, aber zum immer gleich alles Wegwerfen bin ich nicht erzogen worden….eher das Gegenteil. Ich mach mir lieber die Muehe auf Flohmaerkte zu gehen, online Anzeigen zu schalten, oder geeignete Sachen zu spenden. Aus das originale e*bay habe ich allerdings kaum noch Lust. Hierzulande wird man sehr bevormundet und muss ein paypal-Konto haben und nutzen, um ueberhaupt zu e*bayen. Als Verkaeufer zahlt man dann also dafuer auch noch Gebuehren, als wenn man sonst nicht schon genug e*bay Gebuehren zahlt. Dann lieber “kijijen” oder vom Gummibaum (gumtree) baumeln.

So, nun kauft aber bitte mal jemand meine Regale, meine Friteuse, die ich nie haben wollte, aber geschenkt bekam, Schuhe, die ich nie getragen habe, meine neuwertigen dunkelroten Plissee-rollos, den Aldi CD-MP3 player, die besten aller besten Boneless aggresive skate Knieschuetzer, die schoensten aller schoensten Wildleder DrMartens, die ich mir damals zu klein gekauft habe…..ich will das doch nicht wirklich alles fuer meine Kindeskinder aufheben….obwohl…lasst mich mal ueberlegen – Neeeeein, es muss alles wech!

It would have been soooo awesomely beautiful – if!

I didn’t expect the Spanish team to have such a good defence. Looked like they were way stronger than the Argentina’s. They had so many chances to score. Although, the game was rather slow. Not much action. I almost fell asleep in the first half hour of the game.

What a pity! We lost. We could have done better. Why oh why.

At least (again, like in 2006) we came in third, but hey, in my “environment” of international co-workers and friends, everyone thought Germany is going to win the worldcup. WE WERE SO CLOSE!!!

Thanks for the enthusiasm and the optimistic view of world’s best second best third best soccer team. We still did very well. And the best of it all?

We will be back in 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!
[Four is my lucky number anyway. It better is "theirs", too!]

Tootsie roll, Reese’s cup, 100 Grand, Hershey’s kisses, Butterfinger, Reese’s (peanut butter) pieces, 3 Musketeers, Almond Joy….

Can you follow me? Does everyone know what I am talking about?

AMERICAN CANDY and CHOCOLATE….! I didn’t know that I love it that much! I think I never had it really or I never knew what Nathan grew up on…never really knew which chocolates came from England and which from the States….but now I am hooked!!
Yes, wow, a real competitor to my beloved German chocolate sweets.

Nathan and I were (almost) fighting…no actually we have been fighting over this bag:

A little bit of everything ‘American chocolates’.
It was a little gift from my manager who recently came back from a short holiday in the USA.

You should know that I am not very good at sharing when it is chocolate. When I received the bag I had a night out and Nathan stayed at home. He asked me, if he could have a few pieces. (!!!!)
Pardon? Hello? I just got this bag, don’t even have time to look at it, because I’m going out, and he wants a piece BEFORE I even get to it? NO! Hell, no, how can he even be so brave and ask?
Well, this caused the first little argument. Haha.

I needed the right moment to take the bag of sweets on my lap, and the right moment to be in the mood for it to eat some. If you know what I mean.

Mr Natey didn’t like this at all. He said I was mean, very mean to say he could not have something from this bag which had all of his childhood favourites in it. He said I cannot leave it lying around, not eating anything. Mean mean mean. *giggle*
How about a bit of self-control Mr CandyPopcornOholic? :P
Well, I didn’t say he could not have anything forever…just for the moment, no.

In the end (I gave in and) he had his first piece before I had my try.
BUT…HE KEPT ASKING FOR MORE AND MORE!!

We argued…a lot…other people argue about important things (like which TV channel to watch, lol), we argue about who can have which kind of chocolate and in which time frame. I mean, if I didn’t control “the USA bag” we would have eaten everything in one go. I want good things to last. My man doesn’t understand why and for what I want to save them for.
Well, maybe to keep the delicious moments for longer than just one or two days? Especially when we cannot just go to the next shop to buy more of these….they don’t sell them here.

I am so bad. I just remembered that it was ME who grew up with a sister and who (should have) learned to share things. Nathan is a single child…but so well behaved and so patient when it comes to sharing. I tell ya, for sure this earth’s chocolate has led to civil wars back then. I am sure! Evil stuff…

I NOW UNDERSTAND WHY HE WAS SO MAD AT ME….mad for the awesome chocolates. Because – they – are – so – goooood! Australia can go home. England can go home. A lot of countries can go home. American old school chocolates are just so very delicious and special in the taste. How could I have missed trying them the last two time when I was in the States? *wondering*

The Hershey’s kisses with the white chocolate and the cookie pieces in it are just to melt-away! So tiny but so good.
The tootsie roll reminds me of “Toffee” from Germany. Reese’s pieces are so much better than M&M’s (they look the same, but the filling is peanut butter instead of chocolate).

Who would have known that I became such a peanut butter fan?

I haven’t had Nutella for over two years now. Can you believe it?

That is what happens if you live your life with an American cowboy.
Just weird how his mother said to me once that he never had such a craving for sweets? He is madly involved in the choco-sweetness business.

You might not believe it, but we have had the choc bag for a few weeks now and there are still around 12 pieces in it.

Tonight we were a lovely couple and shared an “Almond Joy” chocolate bar. What a joy!

Yesterday we went food shopping and guess what we saw? A long bar of “Tootsie Roll”, “3 Musketeers”, “100 Grand”, and another one that I forgot the name of; all next to the check-out of an IGA store.
This is brand new. We shop there quite often and they never had those. But now, just now, after we had this American chocolates bag. Weird!!!!
