Upgrade to WP 2.7.1 successful

I just came home from work and before going to bed I quickly (well, about 30 minutes) upgraded my WordPress Blog version to the newest 2.7.1 (from 2.6.3), successfully by hand (this automatic upgrade plugin out there does not work for me). I must say, it looks very neat in the Admin dashboard now. I like it. All my plugins seem to work and my beloved wp-cats plugin that would not work with the new WordPress is not needed any longer, because the new WP has a quick edit function for the posts/categories, which almost works as nice as wp-cats. So , I am happy. I deactivated the intensecommentdebate plugin for now, to test if the spam came through that. And I know that most of you don’t care, if I have this hot comment tool running or not. :P
The country tracker is also a test run. I deactivated statcounter, because I am not really looking into it very often lately and thought, I can save some script-loading to improve my blog’s speed. I’m more interested from where in the world you are coming from. Unfortunately it only saves the last 10 countries.

Oh, was that a snoring sound? My better half seems to have fallen asleep while playing Tetris on his mobile. Wait, I’m coming…..! Good night my dear new fast blog(software).

New on my blog: IntenseDebate for comments

Ich habe heute das plugin IntenseDebate in mein Blog integriert. Damit soll das Kommentieren attraktiver gemacht werden und vor allem mehr Spass machen.

Ein paar Merkmale:

Man kann auf einzelne Kommentare direkt antworten und spart sich so das @Person A @Person B vor dem eigentlichen Kommentar.

Ebenso kann man man mit einem Klick auf die Symbole “Daumen hoch” oder “Daumen runter” für einen guten/interessanten/hilfreichen oder halt für einen nicht hilfreichen/unpassenden Kommentar abstimmen. Der Kommentator bekommt diese positiven und negativen Stimmen auf sein Kommentatorniveau gutgeschrieben. Diese Punkteanzahl steht dann immer neben dem Kommentator Namen und sie zeigen an, wie qualitativ wertvoll man als Kommentator ist.

Wenn der Kommentator gleichzeitig bei Twitter ist, dann kann er/sie gleichzeitig den Twitteraccount wissen lassen, dass er/sie gerade einen Kommentar in Blog X verfasst hat. So ist es noch leichter, den Lieblingspersonen des Webzeitalters zu verfolgen.

Ich hab doch schon nen openID Account…Ja? Gut, dann könnt ihr euch auch damit beim Kommentieren einloggen. Spart also auch die Eingabe des Passwortes, der Emailadresse, und der Webseite.

Ach, ich weiss zwar nicht, wozu es gut sein soll, aber ihr könnt sogar eine eigene Umfrage in euren Kommentar integrieren. Probiert es ruhig aus!

Es gibt bestimmt noch mehr zu entdecken. Ich habe es ja selbst erst seit einigen Minuten unter meinen Fittichen und werde mal sehen, wie stabil es hier zusammen mit meinem Blog läuft. Hauptsache IHR habt Spass beim Kommentieren. Bitte JETZT ausprobieren und sagen, ob’s gefällt.

Today, I installed the plugin IntenseDebate in my blog. It is for having more ease and fun while commenting, for instance on blogs.

A few features:

It enables comment threading.  This means that you can directly reply to a specific comment. The @person A and @person B is not needed any longer.

Also, you can show if you like or dislike a comment but clicking on the “thumb up” or “thumb down” symbol. The commentator will get points for the votes, which, in the end, shows the quality of his/her overall commenting.

If the commentator is using Twitter as well, he/she can simultaneously let Twitter know that he/she just left a comment in Blog X. This just makes it easier to follow your favourite Web-People.

But, I already have an openID account…Yes? Oh cool, you can also log in with your openID account. No need to type in a password, your email address and your web URL.

I don’t know for what it shall be good for, but you can also integrate your own poll into your comment. Try it out!

Of course, there are a lot more things to discover; I’ve just mentioned a few, which I think are nice features. I will see how stable the plugin will run together with my blog. The most important is that YOU have fun with leaving comments on my blog. Please try the new way of commenting out NOW, any let me know if you like it!
